DCC systems use an AC power supply to the track.

One problem with DCC for postwar is that the motor must be isolated from the engine frame (ground). DCC decoders are normally installed in can motor equipped engines.

Operating a DCC sound equipped engine will require a complete DCC system for control - a major investment. You will then be operating in command, not conventional.

A way to accomplish sound in an AC powered conventional postwar loco is to replace the E-unit with a BlueRailTrains decoder board and an on-board bluetooth speaker + speaker. You will have to convert the AC to DC to power the boards and will need to use a smart device for control and to get sounds. Also, if your loco has a universal motor, you will need that simple conversion circuit to make it act like a can motor. I've done this.
