I know that some day lionel is going to phase out the orange and blue modules. Until they do here is an easy project to do for a good looking storage box.
I went to a local cigar shop and found a used wooden cigar box I liked and thought it would fit on my control panel rather nicely. I just spray painted it black inside and out. When it was fully dry I found an old lionel tmcc paper add logo I had in a box laying around. thought it would look nice on the top lid of the box. Cut it to fit and super glued it on top.then spray clear gloss seal over outside of box.
The inside is dense black 1/2" foam cut to fit. I use the module as a guide and cut around it with an exacto knife. Then just cut out the rest of the hole. I then place module in cut slot. Just space the next one below it and repeat. I add more holes as I get more modules. Cost was $2 paint, $5 used cigar box, free logo, free foam. Total cost for me $7. Looks great on my control panel and blends in with the other lionel controllers also. Just wanted to share with all who are interested in storing these in a handy place. Thanks roger!
