Well, I also discovered the cause of the shorts on one of my inclines...any passenger car (MTH and Williams) with a plunger type de-coupler is hitting my Fastrack Switch frogs(?).

Thus, even on a flat service....

So, I am sticking with my RMT passenger cars that do not have this and they work fine.

I am debating whether to remove those plungers somehow or just trade them for non-plunger type equipped passenger cars.

Chipset,

If it is only a few cars, check to see if a screw has loosened on the coupler mounting brackets allowing the couplers to droop.

Since it is happening to more than one or two cars, you will probably have to go to plan B and put a piece of black electrical tape over the bottom of each plunger and trim the edges of the tape to prevent shorting.

Hope this helps.

Jim
