Ah, Paradise!  Volcanoes and hurricanes!  Thought they were called typhoons in the Pacific Rim.

What, me worry?

As did I. I thought that we here in the Gulf Of Mexico/Caribbean/Atlantic proper used the "H" word, and the Pacific area used "typhoon". (Just looked it up - "typhoon" is used in the Northwest Pacific, and "hurricane" is used in the Northeast Pacific, which would include Hawaii, I guess. Who knew?)

Best of luck to you! I hope you get through the storm with minor or no damage. I'm sure you know this, but remember your and your wife's safety and health is top priority. All material things can be replaced, people can not.

Good luck to you all over there and I'm hoping the storm loses strength and/or veers off in another direction to miss you. Be careful and stay safe!

The Pacific Dateline is part of the cutoff between North Western typhoons and Central Pacific and Eastern hurricanes.

Man...I fell asleep watching the radar after reading this.  Slightly weaker, but it's hardly moved ... its only going NW at about 8mph and has a secondary system SE thats been nearly as nasty.  Angry seas!

Thank you guys and gals so much. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It's such a strange day waiting for tonight. It's a regular Hawaiian day. Blue sky, slight breeze, about 85 yet waiting for the night and what happens is really frightening. We are trying to keep busy. Just went up to a friends house. They are in Canada on vacation. Moved all their lawn stuff inside so it won't go flying. Saw about 25 roofers trying to put a new roof on a house. They must finish today. This is a shot from space of our hurricane. We are somewhere down there. Thank You Again. Donla-1534967088-jy6xsbh4ln-snap-image

Bill, I think Dan Cook the weather guy on channel 9 here made a mistake. He was working to many hours. I have known him for year and can't wait to give him you know what about the 50 inches. But not now as he really is all over this storm and working a ton of hours.

For us this is the worst time. Just waiting and waiting. We are doing  anything and everything to keep working and our minds off what is out there. We are getting lightning strikes now but no rain or wind. Don

Don, good thoughts coming your way.  Hoping for the best for you, Vicky and everyone else bracing for Hurricane Lane.

My thoughts are your safety of your family first.

I would concentrate on moving all electric engine s to safety and storage in zip lock bags of u r thinking roof may be compromised by the weather.

prayers to all your family and neighbors!
