E9s and e8s are very similar, Lionel usually offers both at the same time, but not this time. So it's not to difficult to make an e9 custom run.  I'd like some Amtrak bloody nose e9s.

Soooooo Steve, if your going to do a run of the UP E9's, how about having a few lettered for the Milwaukee Road?

I would also vote for the red nose E9 Amtrak.

I could go either way. But I’d lean more towards having ditch lights and how they are today. 

Lionel did a Legacy Wabash Train Master (no. 28307) two tone blue and white previously (2009 Vol. 2). Perhaps there would be a market for another, I don't know.

Why does no one mention gray when discussing the Wabash colors?  Confused in VA.

Maybe because what you are thinking is gray may be a very light toned blue?

Within the Wabash community, this is commonly referred to as the “Tri-Color” scheme.

1950 Cooke Paint & Varnish provided the original colors, Wabash switch to DuPont colors at a later date.

Dark Gray Enamel = 802-A-194

Blue = 802-L-94

Silver Aluminum = 100-A-395

So, what is “Silver Aluminum”, well, it is not white, it’s not grey, and it’s not silver.

Many of the photos look white, even the color photos. Some photos have a metallic look, but again, not silver in the traditional sense.

I think the most convincing rendition has been the use of reefer white (dirty white) with what seems like a few drops of silver, very little silver.

The thing with Amtrak Es is that no 2 are going to be the same, so you need to pick your road numbers and stick with it so the details get done right. They're generally numbered in blocks based on who owned them originally, starting with #200. when you get above 400 they start becoming rebuilds of 200 and 300 numbered units and you need to be careful you dont make the same engine twice.  Id be interested in a single A, as Ive got 2 sets of MTH ones already, but it would add a 3rd unit to the rainbow if one bought the cataloged AA set

Steve, If you'll take suggestions beyond engines, I'd suggest the FGE "Real Cold" smoking reefer. 

I'll link to PHOTO since I cant post it. 

These were bought from PFE, and were the only Ribbed cars in the FGE fleet. They date to the mid-80s.

Just another thought on the UP E9’s I don’t know how feasible it’ll be but if doing the ditch lights I’d also go with the dual beam headlight and the blinking yellow light. Like I said I understand if it won’t be feasible.

I'd be a buyer of the UP E9s with ditch lights for Excursion service 

Milwaukee E8/E9 in UP armour yellow makes a buyer out of me.
