Hi, Has anyone upgraded a MTH 20-3025-1 Southern Pacific AC-6 Cab Forward with ERR Command control, was there enough room in the tender to accomplish this?
Thanks John

There is plenty of room in the tender. I did one a few years ago.
In fact, if you do not insist on controlling the headlight with TMCC, you can do all the work in the tender.
When I do TMCC conversions to MTH Premier steam locos, the only reason I go into the loco at all is to hook a wire to the smoke switch.
Why not up-grade it to DCS and then install the proper cab forward sound file? I do not believe ERR has that "special" cab forward sound, but I could be wrong.
If it was me, id put an MTH PS2 or PS3 upgrade in it. It'll work perfectly since its and MTH prodcut and have the correct sound file.
I did one, and there's tons of room for any upgrade you care to perform.
However, I have to agree with the masses, ERR doesn't have a cab forward sound board, so when I did mine, I upgraded it to PS/2 to use the DCS sound file.
First of all I want to thank everyone for their feed back. I've made my decision to go with the MTH PS3 upgrade, the main reason is to keep the MTH sound file for the Cab Forward. Now one last question, I have TMCC I assume I could run the MTH PS3 loco in a conventional manner, and the optima would be to get an MTH DCS and tie in to the TMCC Command base in the future am I correct? Now if or should I say when I acquire Lionel Legacy Loco I could add the Lionel LEGACY # 990 COMMAND SET both tied into the layout Right?
Thanks
Yes, you can run DCS and TMCC/Legacy all on the same layout. DCS can control DCS, conventional, TMCC engines and Legacy engine TMCC features. You need the Legacy system and to access the full Legacy feature set.
I run both, and the reason both of my cab forwards are PS/2 upgrades was indeed the correct sound set.
Yes, MTH can run in conventional fine and you actually can control features with the Bell and WHistle buttons. Fire couplers, activate PSA, Lock engine, etc... G
You can also run it as a PS-1 locomotive with Legacy, if you have track powered by a ZW-C or L. I run all my PS-1 locomotives from my Cab handhelds.
