Received this engine for Christmas.  After some tune up and a BCR addition all was running great until today.  Went to fire up the layout this morning and this engine shows "inactive" on my IPhone (running DCS with Wifi).  Repeated attempts read the engine gave the same result.  Shut everything down and tried again - same result.  All my other MTH engines are recognized as "active" and run fine.

Suggestions appreciated.  Could this be a victim of the older PS2 5V board failing?

You guys are missing something.  While yes a 5volt could very well be the issue.  Another explanation is the fact he’s using the app to access this engine.  Which in my experience will be just as much of a possibility.

have you tried accessing the engine with a remote? Try deleting the engine form the app and remote (if you have one) and try re installing it with nothing else on the track.   Also try running it in conventional

Thanks all for the responses.  I tested the engine in conventional with a z1000 setup and it was dead. No life at all.  Before GGG’s response another forum member reached out and pointed me to Sommerfeld’s Trains in WI.  Sure enough they had a board and could do the upgrade.   I shipped the engine last week and it should arrive there today.   It could be awhile before they get to my engine, but I’m in no particular rush.  I am looking forward to having this engine back with PS3 upgrade.  The old PS2 sounds were not nearly as good as those with my PS3 steamers.
