Hi,
I'm hoping someone could help me out. I am new to engines with proto-sound and I am not sure how to trouble shoot them. I purchased a MTH 2002 Allegheny 2-6-6-6 with PS1.0 used and in great condition. I ran it around the track yesterday a few times with no issues.  however when I went to try agian later on the same day the engine would power up, make two bell sounds and if I left it powered up on low powet for 30 seconds it would go into an idle sequence, but when I tried to move the train it would not move.  I tried using a new 9V battery and same result. Any ideas on how to solve this issue?  My plan is to get it working and possibly sell b/c I am trying to get into HO collecting since it requires less space.

Make sure harness plugged in all the way also.  For PS-1 sometimes the engine PCB has a broken solder joint on one or both outside pins which are motor control.  Or the battery was weak and the board got scrambled.

One way to tell is raise voltage fully.  After start up cycle down to around 10-11 and back up. You should get one ding. Try again, for two dings.  If you can't get beyond 1 ding the board is scrambled and needs a tech reset.   G
