MTH 2076T stuck in neutral

Try it with the same cars you were pulling before.

Running it alone, it may not cycle properly with the CW-80. Try unplugging instead of direction button/handle.

Thanks Rob. So I put the same cars back - a lighted caboose w/smoke - and it runs! 

So if I want to run that engine I will always have to include that car? What gives? Ha.

How does one "break the cycle" so to speak?

The CW does not go completely to "off" unless there is an appropriately coupled load across the triacs.

To "break the cycle", use a regular multi-tap transformer(postwar style) or a MTH transformer.

Rob is correct, although I personally use and like the CW 80 transformers for my main power supply on the layout, some MTH units can be "Fussy"! I have heard of people using a light bulb across the terminals to lower the power to the tracks to allow an MTH product to cycle properly, I have not, but normally have a lighted caboose on the track most of the time so this may be why I have not had these problems!

I'm just relieved it's not the engine, which I really like. It's my only MTH engine and it's only run a few hours so far so I was a little worried.

I'll be in the market for an additional transformer soon - got a new loop planned and will maybe look for something better suited.
