How many of you have one of these MTH motorized 219P standard gauge cranes? The boom and crane hook can be raised or lowered with the two switches behind the door on the rear of the crane. The cab can be rotated left or right with a toggle control on the rear raised section behind the cab. In addition a magnet can be attached to the hook and energized by a third switch inside the back of the cab while a red light is illuminated at the same time. Loads of action and fun! Mine is the traditional colors of red boom with a peacock cab with a red window and a dark green roof. The 200 series car frame is black. Another nice touch is the brass knob on the rear cab door with a magnet closure. There are also two small etched brass plates affixed to this access door. This crane was available for only a couple of years before it was discontinued. Mine works flawlessly. Are you satisfied with yours?

It doesn't mean we aren't envious. And cranes are awesome in play verstility. Logs to iron, cotten to coal, ditch digging to a ditched loco; one tool for all occasions; almost ought to be painted up like a Swiss Army Knife
Pictures would be nice if you can manage
I just recently learned to post photos from my Android phone to a forum thread. Feeling a little washed out after my treatment today, so maybe tomorrow. THANKS for your interest!

That's an very nice crane. I am not a fan of modern repro but sometime i can do an exception. And after all it is not really a repro, Lionel never done a working model of the 219.
Have a good recovery Art, and take care,
Daniel
I missed to specify with electric control, sorry.
l have several color variations of that car in the collection and it would be fun to addition that one.
The chain on your modèle is not original. Lionel always use à coton string on the 219.
Very best, Daniel
My 219P also has a fabric string, and not a chain, though the chain is an interesting substitution!
Fred: Just curious: Did you add the chain to your crane, or was it acquired by you with it attached?
FRED: Still curious about the origin of that chain in lieu of the cotton string? ☺
A late reply
I did not change anything to this crane; I always assumed (wrongly?) that it was all original.

Fred
An interesting modification at any rate! ☺
