Guys,

A little help?  I have newly returned to DCS as Atlas O is making DCS engines.

The Setup:

I was setup with an MTH 2.0, 2 rail engine, I was using the DCS TIU Manual's recommended Bridgewerks 15amp regulated DC power pack,  a (Rev L) TIU hooked in to the 12' of straight Atlas O 2 rail track through the FIXED VOLTAGE IN and OUT 1.

The Horrorid Event:

I got a spark at the engine's truck where the wheels touch the track, then a flash of green light, and light smell from the TIU.  Now the TIU doesn't provide power and the internal red light doesn't light up.

Thoughts?

I do appreciate any insight as this TIU probably has 1-2 hours run time (by me) on it. Then this.

I just wanna run trains.

Thanking you in advance,

Rick Trinkle

Rick,

There is at least one fuse inside the TIU (2 prong automotive type) that could have blown. You have to take the TIU apart to access it. I had the same thing happen to me a couple of times when I first started with DCS. I now have a fast acting circuit breaker installed between a Z1000 power brick and the TIU. I can’t find the instruction manual for it at the moment but I purchased it from Tony’s Train Exchange several years ago. It’s specifically designed for O scale and shuts things down immediately with any kind of short. I wish I could be more helpful but my electrical knowledge relating to DCS is pretty limited. Good luck.
