I'm wishing that MTH would do more switchers with 3/2 trucks, as I run their DCS control system. I see the older S2 switcher has them in their Premier line. The RailKing line doesn't have them. I would have ordered a couple of their modern switchers like the MP15AC if it had these trucks on it. I've seen the article by John S. that converted the RailKing trucks. I just have not tried to do it yet. They have a MP15DC switcher coming in Conrail for example, that I also would have ordered.
I have an Atlas two rail switcher with TMCC installed that doesn't get used much. The two systems clash a bit and I'm going to install TMCC on a overhead wire to keep the signal on it's own wire and out of the rails. It's hard to get more of these older switchers so I haven't made that a priority as I only own the one unit. I keep getting more stuff laying around that does not get used.
I just got a Railking VO1000 switcher from Barry, that seems really well made. It's too old for my tastes era wise. I bought it for parts to convert another switcher and try to modify the trucks to two rail. I may just end up keeping it as is. It's a beauty and I always have a liking for any diesel.
So it goes into the pile of to do's again. Somewhere in that pile is a 3 rail Lionel trackmobile, a couple of 3r Lionel engines, some 3r steamers......
