I have two MTH JC 4-6-0s. They have the 3volt-Ps2 electrical system. I need to replace the batteries, but would like to use the BCR-2. I have used BCRs in my nine volt units, but never the BCR-2 3volt units before. Looking at the parts list on these engines, there are two battery pack, one for two AA cells and one for three AAA cells. My question is is the BCR-2 compatible wit each and how does the BCR go into these engines. It looks like the BCR-2 has two wire leads, do they just insert? Basically just plug in? Thanks.

The BCR2 will work to replace either of the 3 volt battery packs that were used in PS2 3 volt boards. You just unplug the battery pack and plug in the BCR2.
Honestly the trickiest part is removing the shell sometimes
You are correct, they will pug into the same connector as the original 2.4v battery. The BCR-2 will replace either the AAA or AA sized battery pack and the BCR-2 is much smaller than the AAA battery pack.
Gun runner John can set you up.

Just so you know, the MTH batteries are Two AA or Two AAA. Not three AAA. They are 2.4V rechargeable batteries. The BCR you use is rated for 5 to 5.4Volts, because that is the charging system voltage. G
Thanks all for the information. Should be an easy insert.
