Anybody ever see one of these? Did the prototype ever have one in this color? Did MTH ever release these? Cannot find on their web site.

I've got one buried under the layout somewhere, and a buddy of mine at the club has a whole string of them he runs with some similar Lionel cars. I would swear I once saw it on the MTH site, when I was looking for one. I don't know for sure if that particular car and paint combination is prototypical, but both MTH and Lionel have built something like it. Atlas has a similar paint job as well, but I think it's on a PS-4427 car and I'm not sure if they made an ACF car like that or not.
Thanks for your response. I have the AtlasO trinity hoppers and would like to add some of these if available. Never seen a real one in the green scheme but it is nice.
Search Kansas City Southern and you'll see the 2 6-car sets pop up.
The single car was 20-97665 at this URL: http://www.mthtrains.com/content/20-97665
You probably search "KCS" and that does not yield anything Kansas City Southern.
Always looking for 20-97533
Did KCS ever do the green scheme on this particular car??

Not green. And it's probably not green on that car - just a poor quality photo with odd shading on the black color that appears green.
I think the MTH ones are a fantasy scheme as theirs are models of ACF centerflow hoppers. AtlasO makes a closer, if not completely correct Trinity model in their Master Line.

ACF is now ARI or American Ralcar Industries.

The American Railcar Thru-Sill Covered Hopper is the type of covered hopper that used that scheme.

I just picked up all 8 road numbers of the Atlas version...beautiful!! JD Trains has 2 or 3 individual cars left. He is here at York. If you are interested, call me at 610-653-1288 after 9 AM EST tomorrow and I will give you more info. Jim
