I bought MTH O Gauge New York Central #4814 & 405 Passenger Cars from a OGR sponsor on ebay, and the coupler plungers are always in contact with the MTH RealTrax I use.
Other than snipping off these plungers, I see no way to keep them from shorting on the track.
Any ideas other than tape?

Wally World sells liquid electrical tape. Just paint the bottom of the shoe. Nothing will last very long though. I've always removed the little buggers with a cutting disk in my Dremel.
Check to see if the coupler pivot screws are loose. If they are, the couplers will droop and eventually they will fall off.

They do not seem to be too loose.
Since, I do not uncouple at the cars, I might just cut them off with a dremel deisk as Happy Pappy stated.

My opinion, Do as suggested by Jim Sutter and call MTH before taking the dremel approach and being sorry for it later.
Chipset, you dremel, you ruin. Whose going to want a set with all the uncoupler plungers cut off.
Call MTH first, and email also.

Go ahead and hold off until you talk to the MTH folks. I would like to find out exactly what they have to say...... this time. Their answer five-years ago was a far cry from satisfactory (nuff said).
