MTH Part # DG-1230002

Whilst running my newly acquired (old loco) MTH 30-1115-1 way too fast, it jumped the track onto my garages concrete floor.

Needless to say the air was filled with much blue language mainly aimed at myself. Anyway the fall caused the cow catcher to break away ruining my fun.

I need MTH Part # DG-1230002. I have already checked with MTH Parts and they inform me that it is no longer available.

Anyone out there possibly have it or know where else to go. Please no flames. I have already kicked myself in the rear!

Have you considered trying to repair it? I've bonded a few of these together after similar incidents.

Yes I have managed to glue it back together but I'm not sure how long that will last. It will be OK as long as I don't run it but I'm not one to just look at my locos.

Clean off the glue then Join it back with JB Weld.

That can take the stress of running.

I use Loctite 380 and then reinforce it with JB Weld after I get the part positioned. I figure the two adhesives should keep it there, so far, so good.

Follow-up re: JB Weld.

Removed the glue and used JB Weld as suggested. Worked great! The cow catcher and associated parts are on there really solid. If I don't drop it off the table again I'm sure that it will not come apart. Thanks again.
