MTH Parts and Small Repairs at York?

They have a parts booth but I have not seen them do repairs since the early days of the yellow hall. They may be able to help with something small but I would not count on it.

I've always seen the parts booth in the Orange hall but never any repairs done. They really don't have a good place to work. The hardest part of changing the remote wheel is getting the unit open. You would also need to use a soldering iron for the 3 wires on the wheel. 

their parts area is always well manned, usually a wait for an attendant due to the crowds. I usually stop for a supply of traction tires

I too remember when MTH did repairs at York. They had a good sized tent outside one year and it was packed with people seeking help.

Seems like a great business opportunity to man a booth and let people drop off their engines to be repaired. I would imagine a five person booth would be overwhelmed and people would end up being turned away.

The business model seems sound. Wish I could dedicate the time / resources.

I'm sure they'll have common parts, but I wouldn't count on repairs happening there.  Can't help you with the shipping, but I could help with the long wait.  

10 years ago they had a fair assortment of parts but for the last few years most of the parts have been for tinplate trains and few for modern era.

Pete, tinplate yes but everything else is still present.  I buy a lot of parts, Jeff and Ryan bring the house to York.  It is a busy booth.  They should use the old take a number system.  Many years ago when Mike did the tent repairs, things were busy.  Doing repairs at York today would not be easy to get done.
