MTH pup trailers

I recently purchased the MTH 20-98884 Swift Flat Car w/(2) PUP Trailers from my local model train store.

Has anyone tried to disassemble these MTH Premiere trailers? I tried to loosen the screws on these and they won't budge an inch. I'm thinking about repainting these. Also has anyone removed the door latches as well? These trailers are well built, and stumping me as far as disassembly. Any advice would be appreciated.
