Folks

I’ve got a squeaky driver. My gears have red n tacky. The rods have a touch of woodland scenics Hob-E-Lube I bought at The Hobby Shop in Matawan NJ. I’ve been using both for years. I also got a little bit of Hob-E-Lube where the axles goes through the frame.  It’s still squeaking. With the loco upside down in my hand and a little pressure, I think it’s the rear driver. As near as I can tell, the frame is solid, the axles were pushed through and the wheels were attached. There is no access  to the axles like you might have in N or HO. Is there a secret to lubricating the axles?

Are you sure it's the driver and not the rods?  Did you oil the rods and the axles on the drivers?  It's pretty unlikely that the squeak is coming from inside.

thanks. Yeah. At this point I’m very close to needing to remove the screws off and clean the rod area.  I’m gonna bring it up to NJ HiRailers and see if a third set of ears and eyes can’t help.

Thanks. Yes there is a screw for gear lube. I don’t see a bottom plate that separates from the frame. Luckily, I’m joining a club this weekend. Maybe I’ll bring it. 🤣

HA!  You're right, I got them confused with my old Williams/Samhongsa engines.  I rarely pick any of them up anymore now that I have enough room on the layout to store them all.
