These sets recently got my attention - anyone else planning of purchasing either set?

The catalog description doesn't mention track, are these sets sold engine and rolling stock only?

I found a few old posts saying these are repaints of the MTH General and not really good reproductions of the prototypes.  Setting that aside, is the MTH General a good runner, and is it close to the correct size, or oversized?

Thanks! Alan

Paul - the Juipter set is the one I'm most interested in too.

Not much interest in these sets here on OGR.  Prices do seem high if this nothing more than new paint and different smokestacks.  I like these early locomotives and rolling stock, they work well on small layouts.

Are there any affordable "closer to scale" models out there?

Alan,

It is possible that those sets are sold without track. Would be best to know for sure if they have track or not, contact MTH or an MTH dealer and they should be able to tell you. For almost $630.00 I would expect track with it.

I know that WBB has some sets for sale without track but at least they mention that in the sale catalog.
