First of all, Merry Christmas to all you fellow OGR addicts like me!

Second, I recently dug out my Lionel Southern Crescent 4-6-4 Hudson from 1976.  It was the first time I ran it since I was a kid (about 25 years ago).  It used liquid smoke, and utilized the cam-piston-style smoke operation.  I don't have any Lionel liquid smoke, so I took the MTH liquid smoke and put in about 15 drops. I ran the engine for about 10 mins, there wasn't any smoke at all! Did I just screw up the smoke unit in that engine? Is MTH smoke fluid ok to use in that particular engine?

Your wick in the smoke unit was to brittle/dry  to handle that much drops

Check under the engine for dripping smoke fluid .  Open the engine area to check the wick .  you may have replace it before using the smoke unit.   I recommend having a repair man/women  check it.

Good Luck & have fun!

You have great engine there .
