I know PS1 &2 don't like the power from some transformers. Whats a good transformer that these engine will respond to. I'm trying to program a PS2 on a lionel CW80 and it's just not working. If I use an old transformer like a 1033 it doesn't have a bell button so I can't program the engine. I have an engine that seems to be stuck in neutral and I can't program it to factory settings with the CW80. Any help will be appreciated.

If I plug a lionel 1033 output into a MTH z-750 controller would that work

The matching transformer used with the Z750 has a steady 21VAC output at 3.75A. .  The 1033 has a 5 amp max rating but only a 16 volt fixed output at posts A and C, so being 5 volts low may or may not be an issue feeding the 750, but since they are both AC it would not hurt to give it a try.
