I have a Y6b PS1 that was converted to PS2 i was told, I assume the fan driven smoke is original, it has leads for the motor and leads for the element. Can I power directly from the CC?
If the fan doesn't puff with the sound, i.e., has continuous smoke output, then it is still driven by track power. If it puffs with the chuff, the traces on the PS1 smoke unit were cut and the heater leads tied together so they and the fan are driven by the PS2 board (PV and PV5 outputs).
The original PS-1 Y-6B 20-3009-1 had seuthe smoke unit not fan driven. I back fitted a PS-1 smoke fan to mine, and do the same when upgrading to PS-2 or 3.
