Does anyone know whether multiple users with the DCS app can simultaneously operate trains like they can with multiple users with conventional remotes (and a single TIU)?  There doesn't seem to be a way to set each app to a different ID, like remotes, so I am guessing it is not possible (?)

Do signals from the WiFi module have some factory-set ID ?  i.e. if I have one operator with the app and another operator with a conventional remote, to what ID should I set the remote so it doesn't conflict with the app user? Or does that even matter?

Thanks.

Mark,

Does anyone know whether multiple users with the DCS app can simultaneously operate trains like they can with multiple users with conventional remotes (and a single TIU)?  There doesn't seem to be a way to set each app to a different ID, like remotes, so I am guessing it is not possible (?)

Yes, you can use multiple smart devices, all running the DCS App, in exactly the way that you can operate multiple DCS Remotes. Further, you can operate multiples of both the DCS App and DCS Remotes together, simultaneously.

The ID#'s for DCS Remotes don't appear to be as important as they were before DCS 4.0 came along. However, I'd suggest still numbering DCS Remotes so that they may be uniquely identified.

Thanks for the reply.

That's great news- I am going to try it out.

I have 3 boys with 3 iPads and I just realized that  they each might be able to operate their own train on our layout, as long as I keep my finger on the emergency stop button on the DCS remote.

I wasn't certain whether the remote ID assignment was to keep the RF signals on multiple remotes from crossing or whether it was really required to sort out the DCS signals.

BTW-  Just purchased the DCS Companion 3rd Edition.  What a great resource!  Thanks.
