Well, we ran my Legacy system along with the Cab1L at the Great Train Expo in Anaheim, CA this past weekend. I prefer my Cab2 but it did get the other group members of the All Aboard Fastrackers with 54 square modules set up to use the mainline with the Cab1L and at least get used to remote use. Everyone else but me really liked the Cab1L and gravitated towards it. The Cab1L was really their preference. Before this no one would even use the Cab2 to run trains so I have moved them a step forward.

Now we did run a couple of Legacy engines with my SP GP35 getting some run time but the speed steps did not communicate between the 2 remotes so if I would go to dial in a different speed on the Cab2 and someone was running it with the Cab1L the speed would change to the Cab2 speed and vice versa. Not a big deal but interesting. Of note was using the Legacy system I have set mine to channel 7 to prevent different groups from cross talking in a show and this was very easy to program on the Cab1L.

I did also upgrade to other Legacy remotes and bases for another groups members to 1.52 so I did my public service good deed for Lionel. Now I just have to find a good flowchart that describes the Legacy system, power masters, TPCs, and transformers since I got a lot of questions.

The top is thicker and wider than the bottom.

Looking at it from the side, the top is about 1.11 inches thick and the bottom is about .65 inches thick.

Looking at it from the top, the top is about 3.1 inches wide and the bottom is about 2.4 inches wide.

From top to bottom, it's about 7 and 5/8 inches long (too long for my micrometer).

Fired up my new CAB-1L this past weekend.  I am very satisfied with its performance in every respect thus far.  I operated several TMCC and Legacy locomotives with it and had no problems at all.  I'm probably one of the few who actually prefer the CAB-1L and BASE-1L to the full Legacy system, primarily because the remote fits and can be operated with one hand.  I'm a "basic features" kind of guy anyhow, and really don't need or use all the advanced gizmos of the full Legacy system.

The CAB-1L system is also playing nicely with DCS.
