I had a good time, but since I am in a booth, I don't get much of a chance to roam the halls. I do make it point to get to the purple hall to visit a friend at his booth on Saturday. If you're going to leave your post, Saturday is the day to do it. Since Korber Models acquired extra space this April, we were next door neighbors. I met Andre Garcia of River Leaf Models, and I just want to say that his buildings are even nicer close up. I also met Alex and Dina Maliae. I was hoping to meet Matt Jackson, as he is/was a member of another forum, so I would have covered two forums in one member! I met LITrain, aka Steve, and a neighbor to the south of me from Hazleton Pa, Laz. I said hello to Marty Fitzhenry, and didn't realize I was talking to Dotty until later. She, with list in hand, was on a solo shopping mission for several Massachusettes folks. I talked to Peter for a bit, and several others, whose names escape me. I was on the lookout for familiar forum photo faces, or OGR name tags, or familiar names.
I also met several friends from another forum who have been getting together for lunches or dinners for several years. On Thursday, several of us met for dinner at Bel Paese, just east of the Harley Davidson plant, and another group met at Cheddars on Friday night. I highly recommend the blackened catfish, and the tortilla soup. Unfortunately, they don't take reservations on Friday after five, contrary to what I was told by someone I talked to the week prior.
Sales were a little disappointing, but meeting old friends and making new acquaintances are as the commercial says, priceless! Another thing I look forward to, is seeing my sister and her husband. They live in Maryland, not far from the Pa border, and after dinner each night, that is my final destination. Finally, a chance to sit down and unwind with a few glasses of wine, and catch up with them. It's all about the people!
