For display only, is there 2 rail track to fit 027 cars with realistic ties?
About 5 feet of it or so.

Doesn't GarGraves?
Check out this page. Gargraves has 2 rail track. What are you displaying?
Son is ex-Navy , collecting the Navy cars for his living room wall
My son is active duty NAVY MA2. I have a few NAVY cars I've been collecting since he's been in.
Are you going to weather the rail and ties before you mount it to the display board?
If I knew how I would ,was just planning of a 3 x 3/4 x L pine for a base and set the track on it
I have some old GarGraves 2 rail track. I can see if it will clean up and I could try a light camo brown paint on it if you would like. They come in 3 foot lengths.
Interested in that probably 2 lengths but I can give you the full length once I acquire the cars
ok let me know, I will do 2 lengths and you pay the shipping.
thats fine , is there anything I can do with my lathe to repay the favor

He was stationed aboard the USS Iwo Jima, USS Saipan and the HSV2 Swift
He saw more in his tour than I ever will

Mike is a nice guy and an ex Marine to boot. Almost as good as being an ex Seabee.....
LOL Thanks Dan!
Mike, Finally I have all the cars associated with the Navy set, except for the fact I now have 2 of each. Trying to put this together I put a auction bid on some of the cars with the engine and as luck would have it I won that one too. So if there is an interest in them PM me.
I apoligise for not searching but where can I find pics of the old wooden "rail stop bumpers"used in the real world of trains
caboose, W/ light, gondola w/ 4 containers, sub car w/ sub, crane car, Rapid Attack white box car.
Hi Ed, I am not sure, but I found these pictures. if you find something you like or not, I can just build you some simple wood ones and paint them to match the ties. Let me know.
BT
Did you find the engine and calf that goes with those cars ? Or are you just doing the cars?
Larry
Semper Fi!
I have the Yellow Diesel engine shown in the kit, not the calf

Just started reading this. I thought he was talking the postwar set. By the way I did 17 years till for some reason couldn't do any more (I know now what I didn't then( it's called PTSD ) Anyway Glad to hear of your project. Sounds like a great one.
I will post some pics when its done. The only boxed set with orig boxes I have is the 1469WS undecided what to do with it
I have the 1633 but no boxes but do have about 3 other postwar with the original boxes.

When I worked at NNSY here in Portsmouth I worked (electronics) on the USS SAIPAN a bunch, really liked working on the LHAs as they had plenty of room.
When I saw the photos of the walnut I thought how cool it would be to have it shaped into a piece of wooden handrail, but I can't recall if there was any wooden handrail on the SAIPAN, although I expect there was near the Captain's passageway or brow.
Man, that was over 30 years ago that I worked at NNSY!!!
