Funny, I found this ultra-secure gate along the NS right-of-way just this past weekend.

There is a small article in TV guide magazine about the show, and they mention the bad guys get "an old steam train operating".
I was reluctant to bring this topic back up to the top, but at least I made it train related.
Now we're talking.
I wonder what locomotive it will be that they use...
Any guesses?
I'm not a fan of anything on NBC, aside from the local news programming. I doubt I'll ever see that new show, and really don't know what it's supposed to be about.
Most of my TV viewing is limited to PBS, and I will leave ALL reality shows and most all commercial network programs to the rest of you, aside from "Big Bang Theory" and "The Mentalist." I don't even waste my money on cable...leaves me more $ for trains.
Most cable programs have more ads per hour than over the air FREE TV!
The steam locomotive scene in an upcoming episode was filmed in Chadbourn NC on the ROW of the Carolina Southern. Unfortunately the steam locomotive doesn't actually work, but made to work with Hollywood magic. Same thing they did with the 542 locomotive filmed at the NCTM for Leatherheads.
They have already filmed other scenes in Chadbourn, since other shots are filmed around Wilmington NC. I have watched two episodes, and think I am done. In the last episode they put a man in a boxcar, which he later used his hand to break out the wood to escape. When was the last time you saw wood used on a real boxcar in service?
I think the NBC show Last Resort airing tonight at 8 will be more realistic than this show!
Actually multiple locks like this are used by contractors or others where multiple people can access a site with their own key and lock without all using the same key for one lock.

The first episode has the computer-savey but soon-to--be-dead protagonist rushing home to plug into his computer a sort of memory-stick to down-load something before the power goes. huh?
What he could not do this at work??
I was wrong - Last resort is an ABC show at 8 tonight.
Given the sad state of affairs at NBC "news" (I have to put the word "news" in quotes when it comes to NBC) I would not watch anything on that network. They don't want people like me in their audience anyway.
If you have no juice, you could not have any TV!
I saw the trailer and no one had a bicycle. Another JJ Abrams mess.
Last week at the end of the episode I said 'I'm done....too stupid'....but then the preview for next week and the get a steam train.....so one more week......but I bet I'll be done then. I have been spoiled by Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Walking Dead.
Now we're talking.

As I understand it, They used former Hampton and Branchville #44, a 4-6-0 now owned by the South Carolina Railroad Museum. The engine has not operated under its own power since the early 70s. As mentioned by Larry, it was filmed on the Carolina Southern.

Here's an article (and picture) about the loco that is being used for the show
