Hey Gang,
After weeks of waiting, my PW Sanat Fe 2353 AA and 2343C B shells were delivered to me stripped and unpainted. The individual I had given the shells to said his basement had flooded, and was unable to finish the project. I don't have the tools needed to do this project myself, so I turn to you guys and gals for help. Can you guys provide names and contact information?

You can check this website, his work looks good on the site but I never seen it in person. I was thinking of having him custom paint a BL-2 for me for the Reading RR. Maybe some others on here had work done or seen his work in person.

Stewart, I don't know who you originally gave your shells to, but Eliot Welz (Orange Hall, York), does excellent work.
Len Carparelli was THE Santa Fe paint guy. I think he still paints. Elliot Welz is great but you will forget you own it by the time he finishes one. I am quite sure Harry Heike can do it and he is VERY good.

If you can find decals, this is not the world's most difficult paint job. It requires only a good airbrush and some fairly good masking tape; the yellow and black stripes come with the decals. Microscale made good decals for War Bonnet.
Another option is the Conventional Classic shells that Lionel offered to correct the sheen. Both the originals and replacements can be had on the bay for far less than a paint job will cost. A coat of clear will bring the sheen back on the original CC shells. Either way it won't be original.

I have my Original Chief set on the shelf except for occasional tripper service and bought a Bachmann Williams Super Chief and it does look much nicer than the original. Hopefully Bachmann will offer the sound upgrades.
The best F3 paint jobs I ever got were from Chuck Brown who works (worked) for the Western Depot in Yuba City CA.
He did four F3's for me each with a five car 15" passenger sets, in the 70's
I love these sets and they are permanently displayed on my train table. I just finished replacing their inherited Lionel horizontal motor running gear with Williams chassis.
The NYC repaint has Lionel shells.
