Not sure if this should be posted here or on MTH DCS PS2/PS3. This is my first post so forgive me if I guessed wrong.

I purchased a brand new MTH 30-4225-1 engine last week. Received it Friday and added fine to my dcs remote. Started it up and ran well, created a lash up and operated together for a moment before it shut down. I tried to start it and screen said "check track" Engine not found" I took both locomotives off and cut power to the rail. after about 5 min I put power to the rail and put the new U/P engine on the track and received the same message,"check track" Engine not found". I'll add that when the new U/P shut down the transformer did not trip and my other loco did not lose power.

I realize there are many posts out here about this topic and I read most of them before posting this. I have tried the following. Deleted the engine from the remote; tried to re-add but engine is not being recognized. Reset the handheld remote - no change. updated TIU and Handheld - no change. Not sure what else to do. My other two locomotives work flawlessly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Patrick

Under the engine set up menu there is a feature called "recover engine"  ..Give it a try. It goes by quickly and the remote will tell you whether the engine was recovered or not.. This feature seems to do a factory reset on the engine and you 'll still have to add the engine back if recovered...

One  question though ,does the engine stay dark & silent when the track first receives power? I hope so.

Keith - the problem engine is the only car on the track.

gregg - I just tried the recovery and handheld said no engine to recover. I reset again and tried to add and same message - no engine to add.

yes, the engine is dark. No sounds or lights. As if it's a dummy. I used my meter and I am getting a constant 19.2v on the entire layout.

guess it's time to take it to service?

No not yet, Wait  a liitle bit until you get some more feed back from some of the other dcs guys, It  does sound like your engine is completely dead  and not a case of seeing the watch dog signal.... Is it dead in conventional mode (no tiu)   In conventional there should be sound.
