I have a Lionel 6-8160 Wabash steam engine that when power is applied, light smoke and e unit all work but engine doesn’t do anything. Have cleaned and lubed everything (waiting for new brushes to arrive) and continuity test of all wires to and from E unit show continuity. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have truly been able to confirm continuity through the entire circuitry of your 8610 steamer, it could be as simple as a brush hanging up in its tube. It's unlikely that the brushes are worn out on this rather(relatively) new loco unless it has seen display duty.
Thanks for the reply Rob. After further looking into it it seems the fingers and or the drum may be the problem.
