Need help with an electrical faliure

My trains e unit got burned and is affecting the motor so I’m trying to fix it but I have the stuff needed to test to see if it is the motor or not I’m ready for my next step.

Trivial wiring job, connect a brush to the field coil, connect the other brush and the frame to your transformer, apply power. To test the other direction, swap the brush leads.
