Ha ha! You crack me up!

At the LCCA convention, Lionel announced that they were redoing a bunch of accessories to make them play nicer with Fastrack and the new Lionchief sets (because they do not have a traditional transformer to hook accessory wires up to...)

Maybe if you read the original post and thread and checked the calendar before being so trigger happy to post/start new topics on anything and everything you can think of, you'd find the answer.

From the Lionel website:

LionChief™ Plus, an exciting and innovative twist in classic Lionel locomotives
Use the LionChief™ Remote, for long distance control, great sounds, and operating multiple locomotives at the same time. Or flip switch and operate LionChief™ Plus locomotive from your current conventional transformer.

You are able to operate LionChief locomotives from a conventional transformer.

WOW! The catalog is LOADED with something for everyone. I am impressed that Lionel has developed a Fastrack "plug and play" accessories system (and the return of a few of Lionel's popular accessories that can be plugged directly to the Fastrack).

Love the Command Controled gantry cranes, but I think Lionel itself should sell the "third party" crane Fastrack.

Nice to see a couple of new Lionelville buildings (same molds / different artwork to theme them).

The locos are very nice, but there wasn't any that truly jumped out to me (I am sure there will be many OGR enthusiasts who will grab many of them).

I must say that I am intrigued by some of the LionChief Plus motives. It just irks me that they can only be operated by the supplied controller. It would be better if the Legacy 990 system could operate the LionChief Plus engines as well by simply keying in the engine's ID or frequency on the Legacy Cab 2 remote.

I was also pleased to see LED bulbs are being used in the re-issued 16-lamp yard tower light.

Over all, very nice offering. I am sure I will be ordering from this catalog.

What do you guys think?

What are you planning to order?

If that were the case, they'd also cost like Legacy locomotives!  Lionel is simply trying to protect the market share for the "upscale" part of the product line.  The LC+ are, for the most part, targeting a different market segment.

Bingo!  Personally, I have no interest in accumulating a boat load of remotes beyond the five or so LionChief ones I already have for my Thomas stuff.  I understand the "different market" concept and the "conventional operation" capability, but I think they're missing a broader potential market by limiting things to the one-controller-per-engine technology for a growing population that operates in a command control environment (TMCC, Legacy, DCS).

Folks complained that legacy is too "cumbersome" and complicated. Lionel comes up with a small remote that can be held in a childs hand and is simple to operate, and folks want a universal remote with more capability

I agree.  This is a lower cost solution for those who didn't want to invest in Legacy and still wanted remote control.

The problem I see with a multi-channel remote is you have to cover all the channels and no run 2 engines that may use that channel.

Obviously, this is just my opinion, but it seems to be the way they're heading.

In the words of Allan Miller...BINGO!
