I bought an Undecorated ACF 6-bay covered to paint into a BN scheme like what is announced. It looks like I will order those BN ACF 6-bay cylindrical hoppers and paint the Undecorated car in Great Northern Big Sky Blue.

The Soo Line 40' steel reefers are what I need. There are FOUR road numbers.

Grand Trunk Western and Penn Central 40' box cars for the TrainMan line are what would have been seen in Michigan.

They are putting modern 60' plug-door paint schemes on the Berwick 60' plug-door box cars. Perhaps they would do the DT&I or GTW schemes that were on similar Pullman-Standard 60' plug-door box cars.

They are doing an early SOO LINE scheme for the PS-2 3-bay hoppers in the TrainMan line.

They have narrowed down the amount of freight car releases this year.

I'm looking forward to the B&O wagontops. I didn't have a chance to order them from Weaver, and the original ones go for crazy money, over $100.

I want a couple of the brown/white wagontops.  I would also get a couple of the red/white wagontops, but I'm not sure they are correctly labeled in the drawing.  According to this link, at the B&O Railroad Historical Society, I believe that the red/white car should have the "13 great states" logo, not just the capital building.

I'm disappointed that AtlasO did not offer the Baldwin VO switcher in  a PRR scheme.    PRR  was the largest Baldwin diesel switcher customer.  This follows a pattern set by Jim Weaver years ago when he refused to do the F3 in PRR despite multiple production runs and requests on the old AtlasO forum.  Years later they finally announced a PRR F7 but production far trailed Sunset 3rd Rail's FP7 and F7,  thus losing my business. 

I'm a vocal admirer of the AtlasO EMD switcher drive.  IMO it remains   the best ever in a mass produced O scale diesel.  Those drive train components in a VO, along with an ESU  DCC decoder would  have set a new standard.   Kitbash anyone?

Though I understand Ed's disappointment, I was extremely surprised to find that Atlas is planning for a couple NC&StL VO1000's. I definitely want one of those, and maybe both numbers. Alas! A NC&StL diesel that I won't have to have custom painted!

Already sent some F3 units to be painted NC&StL colors. I had painter change a Legacy Erie GP7 to NC&StL #710.

I like the announcement of the Atlas RS11, but I wish it was in the Master Line, not Trainman. I suspect this is the Weaver tooling?  We need a high quality RS11. The VO Switcher would have fit the Trainman Line easily. I also find it interesting that Atlas states in it's background of the RS11 that N&W purchased the most, 99 units, yet they did not do it in the first run. But that's fine as I can wait till the next run. I was also hoping for the announcement of the O Scale NS Top Gons as were done in HO  (by BLMA).

Regrettably not all HO/N Atlas models are offered in O gauge, I suspect the VO switcher did not require much additional tooling to make it a Masterline model and they will sell a lot more RS 11s in the Trainman line with the lower pricing options, interesting why they would use dual motor set up in the VO switcher. As to current A-Z delivery schedule just posted T man plug door boxcars and M line troop cars 2/23 container shipping, no mention of any motive power, with the current F7s reaching dealers now [-SF units] it would appear diesel production is still far beyond rolling stock. JMO

The Weaver RS11 was made at a detail level of the trainman line.   Most details were cast on the shell, especially grabs and such.    The VO-1000 however has separate applied details such as grabs and what not as I remember.    Therefore their decision as to which line to place them in if using the Weaver tooling makes sense.

Jim, didn't the Weaver VO-1000 also have the dual motor China drive in it? I have one but it is in storage. I suspect that Atlas did not want to spend the money to re-tool the frame for their horizontal drive.

Yes, as I remember, the Weaver VO 1000 did have a dual motor drive.   Weaver converted from their single motor drive at some point and everything after that was dual motor.    They converted the chassis on the RS3, FA, and GP38 to dual motor "china block" type drives.    Those 3 models were originally made in the USA and were originally single motor.    I have quite a fleet of the original FA/B and RS3 and I really like them.

Was curious about that too.  Wonder why?  Wouldn't seem to make sense, as much finer control with the single horizontal motor.  IMO, would have allowed for a more detailed cab interior?

Also was interesting just to see several locos listed with ESU Select sound while others were more generic, as well as the other anomalies.   

Atlas probably has to make no changes to bring the VO in as dual motor.    That leaves it the same as the Weaver version.

By the way, "The Car Works" imported a brass VO1000 in various versions some years ago.   I have one.  It had a single motor drive like the Weavers and had plenty of room for a Cab interior.    They also did some Alco switchers and FM units.    Now they usually do Interurbans.

I'm sure they'll do a VO-1000 in Pennsy at some point. Either that or repaint one.

When we have our funds targeted for layout-building in a given year, it's amazing how selective we can be while browsing through new catalogs.   I liked the Atlas-O Berwyck 60' boxcars with the CSX "How Tomorrow Moves" decoration.  And even those rate a "strong maybe".  Aside from those, it's zilch... zip... nada... this time around.  I have a bunch of the CSX "How Tomorrow Moves" intermodal containers already on order from the Dec 2016 announcement, and those are due in before April York.  So we shall see.
