I'm mystified why Atlas would even announce 1, not to mention 2, new locomotives in this catalog when there are about 8 behind in the queue. There is no mention about the F3's or SD40's arriving in the 2nd Quarter not that I expect the latter to arrive at all this year.
Does not cost them anything to make these announcements and lets the competition know what they have in the pipeline, I would not be surprised if the F3s are in production now as they have been primarily ordered by CZ set buyers , it would make sense as a followup to the F7 production. JMO
Atlas probably has to make no changes to bring the VO in as dual motor. That leaves it the same as the Weaver version.
By the way, "The Car Works" imported a brass VO1000 in various versions some years ago. I have one.
It had a single motor drive like the Weavers and had plenty of room for a Cab interior.
They also did some Alco switchers and FM units.
Regarding the comment about the Weaver VO 1000, I verified this to be correct with Jerry at Atlas O. Both the Rs11 and the VO1000 will be built using the Weaver tooling. NO changes keeps cost down. Don't forget that Chinese LAbor and shipping costs have risen drastically in the past few years along with manufacturer demands for huge production numbers that could flood the market! Redesigning the drivetrain to single motor dual flywheel driveshafts with universals will send the msrp to the stratosphere as well. Jerry did state the VO1000 will have a smoke unit in it.
I'm disappointed that AtlasO did not offer the Baldwin VO switcher in a PRR scheme.
PRR was the largest Baldwin diesel switcher customer. This follows a pattern set by Jim Weaver years ago when he
refused to do the F3 in PRR despite multiple production runs and requests on the old AtlasO forum.
Sorry Ed , While you are entitled to your opinion, from a marketing standpoint, IMHO believe Atlas o did the right thing. Weaver offered the VO 1000, in the mid 2000. The last Weaver run had issues because the mfg, used a "grease" that jammed/fouled up the drivetrain. Two years ago I picked up one of those MIB fouled Vo1000 for 3 rail with TMCC for a little over one bill. The seller said it didn't work but after inquiring on this forum, I just cleaned out the "OEM grease" and repaced the grease with Red and tacky and the loco works like a champ... TMCC and all! NOTe that MTH somehow got a hold of the VO1000 tooling and did a Railking Scale and Premier runs making both DLGE and Tuscan PRR VO 1000 in 2007 and 2011.

So flooding the market with Atlas O version of a PRR VO 1000 would not do anybody any good.
Years later they finally announced a PRR F7 but production far trailed Sunset 3rd Rail's FP7 and F7,
thus losing my business.
IDK what you mean by "production far trailed Sunset/ 3rd Rail F7" Atlas O's release of the F7 was done by demand from many customers as Atlas O stated today at Amherst. Their orders and production of this F7 loco has far exceeded their imaginationmaking this the best selling loco ever for Atlas O. Get them now while you can. They are selling as fast as the 53' Stack cars!
As for the Comments on the Car works VO 1000 and the H16-44, I have both for sale if interested. E-mail is in my profile.
They both use the Weaver Chain Drive and I will include the two rail geared wheelsets for each if you want to convert them back to two rail!

Naveen if I am understanding you correctly the Atlas MSRP for these Ford trucks is $74.95? I clicked on the link you provided and DHS Diecast has them for $49.95. Both are out of my price range for a vehicle. I love Atlas but I will stick with Menard's for vehicles where I can get a 1:48 vehicle for $23 after shipping and on line fee and then rebate.
While it wouldn't have taken too much to slightly retool the berwyck into a more appropriate model for those schemes, I'm glad to see some new paint schemes coming out even if they aren't 100% accurate.
Another observation, odd to not see the Trinity 5161's in a catalog. A sign that maybe Atlas is giving them a breather? Time enough to tool up a 6351 or 3281 variation!
I noticed (and commented to Jerry @ the Amherst show) that there were only two pieces of Pennsy in the entire catalog - one for the previous six months (Wagon Top Boxcar) and one for the next (REA X-29). Although I'm fine for giving other road names a chance, that seems to be passing on a lot of potential SPF customers, such as myself...
Also noticed the CSX Berwick Hi-Cube car has a 'NYC' reporting mark associated with it. I'm surprised at how few pieces have been made with the Conrail split markings (across all manufacturers)

You are correct about the price. I ordered mine last weekend & I will post photos on the 2-rail forum when I receive mine, later this week.
I am familiar with the Menards automobiles. The local store is just 10 minutes away & I stop by their train aisle whenever I shop there. Even though the details look reasonable, the scale seems unpredictable. Their O-Scale pickup trucks (I rent their 1:1 scale pickup truck, when I need to haul large purchases) seem too big compared to their Pepsi & Mountain Dew delivery trucks. I have never bought any of the Menards automobiles since they remind me of the former K-Line vehicles where you never knew if the models you bought, even in person at hobby shops, would look good around other O-Scale models. The K-Line 20’ tank containers & trailer chassis were scale-sized but their 40’ containers, trailers for 40’ containers & buses were horribly undersized.
I am building my first train layout but until recently I only had an 8’ long diorama & I couldn’t use the tricks other hobbyists have mentioned on these forums, placing oversize automobiles, away from scale-sized vehicles or smaller models much further away. I didn’t have much room & so I didn’t buy many models but the ones I bought had to look good around other models & from experience with past purchases, I trust Sword Models to deliver a scale pickup truck that looks good around all my other 1:50 scale models.

No mention of the 53' stack cars with an anticipated delivery date...
I hope they decide to make the RS-11 in the Carolina and Northwestern black tuxedo scheme. That was the only RS-11 operated by the Southern Railway when they took over this line.
I also would like Atlas O to retry the Clinchfield GP-7s that were cancelled a few years ago. With the closing of the line by CSX, these should be popular now.
Also interested in the Western Railway of Alabama and Norfolk and Western boxcars. Atlas O seems to like the south, since they have run several roadnames in the last ten years or more.

The red Ford F-250 were being made as shown in the following video at 9:55 mark. The video was from November 2016 when cranesetc.co.uk, a site that reviews 1:50 scale diecast models, visited some of the model makers in China. So, they should be arriving shortly. I ordered a white crew-cab model since the first vehicle I ever owned was a white, Used 2002 Ford F-350 that I got at a Lincoln dealer in Wixom / Novi, MI. Of course, that was when I was a bachelor. Now I have wife & kid & drive a Prius.
I have been waiting for 2-3 years for this model to be available & while this was the latest model Ford built at their Louisville, Kentucky plant when the 1:50scale model was first announced, the fourth-generation that Ford introduced for the 2017 model year & is currently building, looks quite different from this third-generation model.
These are just my opinion.

That's why I'm kinda glad that there is nothing I really "need" in this announcement.
I'll put the money into an additional MP15DC that are finally going to get delivered this year. (very hopeful thinking, lol)

Naveen, when my first child was born ..... I stopped driving a pick-up and bought a small family sedan. Shortly after that, we bought a min-van (this was before the proliferation of various-sized SUV's and crossovers).
Then, when my boys got to middle school age in 2002, we bought a new F250 crew cab long bed. It served our do-stuff-on-the-weekends family very well. Anyway, wishing you and your young family much happiness.
That's a model hard to find in die-cast ... a F250 crew cab with a long bed.

The CSXT (NYC) and TTX Berwicks have the same paint schemes as the 67' boxcars which I think are made by Trinity. The CSXT looks to be the closer in resemblance of the 2 since it has the waffle sides.

ETA for those and the 2nd run of containers announced late last year was stated as 2Q2017.
My point with regard to AtlasO's late entrance into offering PRR F units in O relates to the 10+ year gap between the 2006 announcement of their F3 and the recent delivery of a PRR F7, leaving the field open to lesser detailed offerings by Lionel, MTH, and by some measures Sunset 3rd Rail. (I prefer the Atlas/P&D body, but the Sunset drive). I don't question Atlas's latest F7's sales numbers, but over that 10 year span think of how many PRR F3 sales were missed - our only other 2 rail option were high end brass models.

I found out from DHS Diecast that the red pickup trucks were extremely successful & they sold out of the red trucks & don’t expect to get any more. That is why they no longer have them on their website. But I ordered my white truck from EVOT-USA in Clinton Township in MI & they still seem to have the red crew cab trucks in stock, at this time. EVOT-USA also offers a 5% discount on all orders all through the year. I am attaching the link to the page on EVOT-USA for the crew cab trucks.

Also, note that the crew cab trucks are only available with 6 3/4’ bed & the SuperCab trucks are only available with the 8’ bed.

Atlas really did not have a choice, they had exhausted all the prototypically correct paint schemes for the Berwick model, like a number of railway car builders who built the 60' Hy cube box cars Gunderson, Berwick they either went out of business or were absorbed into another company, Greenbrier, Trinity and NSC are big today. the dimensions for the cars were basically the same for all mfgs, design of body shell varied, rib side waffle side, vert and horz ribs longer shorter lower sill etc even from the original mfgr with later builds of these cars. I would think some of the original paint schemes have been repainted with merged rds, may not have kept original rd # so one would have to do some research. Interesting of the four rd names I have from Atlas only the NS and ATSF schemes show accurate proto pics. JMO

The Canadian National and Central Vermont operators and collectors who have set their time period in the 1950's are the people who are supposed to purchase the newly announced Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific RS-11 in the olive and yellow scheme from the 1950's.

It is unfortunate that Pullman-Standard's waffle-side 60' double door box car is not 100% exactly like the Berwick waffle-side 60 double-plug door box car.
They could have applied those paint schemes.
This is the Grand Trunk Western scheme.

I notice the Atlas catalog rendering of the TTX boxcar does not show the plug doors in the black paint a main part of all the TTX boxcar fleet, hello Atlas!
