Anyone know when Atlas will announce their new July to December catalog. Thanks

Well, I obviously don't.
About the only thing I really expect from Atlas these days is an announcement they're outt'a o gauge totally.
Sad, as their Steam Era Classics were/are my favourites!
You gotta wonder with staff departures and non delivery of many O Gauge items how this is going to end. It's sad because they can do so much better but for whatever reason it's not happening.
In opinion, they will announce more of the same items that they have offered for decades, only with different road names, which will also be WAY OVER PRICED, and have obscenely delayed delivery times!
Thus, no more atlas products for me.

Ain't that the truth!!! But I think HW has the right read on Atlas-O going forward.
Seriously, I'm just waiting on them to deliver round #2 of containers for their Maxi-IV Well Cars. I already have enough cars -- just waiting on the "CSX: How Tomorrow Moves" containers, which have already been delayed one quarter to 3Q (which we're now in). So we shall see.
Sad to watch a lot of the recent changes occurring in the hobby these days. More to come for sure. But it's not like any of us is hurting for inventory. I'd bet most of the active forum members here have a sufficient roster of trains (and then some) for their great-great-grandchildren to enjoy. Anything else at this point is pure icing on the cake, and I certainly wouldn't want to be an importer of toy trains right now. Except for Menards... they seem to be killing it with one grand slam after another, as they continue to provide THE best bang for our money in O-Gauge today. For those of you out there that ARE still building your toy train rosters, Menards has gotta be a Godsend for your wallets.

A study in contrasts for sure: Atlas and Menards !

The title of the post needs to include "JULY-DECEMBER 2017" and "When is it released?"
How can they be overpriced if they are very limited in production. These are not Barbie Dolls and Hot Wheels from Mattel that can be bought everywhere.
If Atlas could make the NJT commuter set(Alp45-DP,Cab Multi level/Coach Multilevel) like they made in HO just in O scale. That would be great.

Just what is "limited" about them? My local STILL has Atlas O freight cars in stock from YEARS AGO!!!!

Really? My I suggest you do your research and see just how many dealers still have lots of Atlas O products "in stock".
Atlas freight cars have been reasonably on schedule in recent years, true most are repaints of reruns, there seems to be very limited new releases, as to the July-Dec catalog this typically gets posted by late July early Aug.Motive power since the Sanda Kan collapse has been unpredictable at best and shows no sign of future improvement. As long as Atlas gets the reservations and continues to sell out the product they will remain in the O gauge business. JMO
Hmmm??? Changing world?? IMO, some of my nicest stuff is Atlas and Weaver. Sad commentary on the hobby.
Again IMO, Mike CT.
They only stock the Atlas O freight cars in no more than 10 hobby shops in the Entire State of MICHIGAN. There are miles and miles between these hobby shops across the state. Most hobby shops that sell Atlas scale models in Michigan have Atlas O cars as special order items.
Andrew
The GRAND TRUNK WESTERN freight cars and locomotives from Atlas O are sold out in 3 Rail.
Norm's O scale might have some GTW cars in 2-Rail.
The Diesel Era freight cars from Atlas are sold out first.
Who is still looking for Steam Era billboard reefers from the 1930's?
Andrew
I am not happy at the prices of new freight cars. But Atlas is not alone. The MTH USRA double sheathed boxcar is a very close model in features to Atlas models of the same car. IN the current catalogue from MTH, the USRA car is listed at 64.95. That is a little cheaper than Atlas, but not much. Lionel cars are also in the same price range. I think the last release for the GLA hoppers was more than 70 apiece.
While the government has claimed there has been no inflation to speak of in the last decade, our hobby prices have sure shot up. Perhaps there is rampant inflation in China!
Look at Lionel's prices. Cheap? no. 3rd Rail, not cheap. Kohs, crazy. All are pricy and getting higher. Talk about prices, look at boats, plane tickets its all higher. We just have to pick and choose. I choose O Scale.
Dick
The LIONEL PS 60' Boxcars and PS-2-CD 4427 3-bay hoppers have been set at a higher price than the Atlas O ACF 60' Box Cars and PS-2-CD 4427 3-bay covered hoppers. Some of the National Railroad stores might sell them at the same price.

I cured myself of "reefer madness" almost a decade ago. If I can do it, ANYBODY can! Haven't even given any recent reefer announcement a second look.
There is no cure for reefer disease once under the skin.
It stays forever - and forever extracts its toll of billboard desire.
I guess I better get those foot stirrups before the fat lady sings.
Why does anybody even care about the Atlas catalog? I guess there needs to be something to complain about
Though I have some Atlas freight, I bought them directly from a store or fellow OGRR member. I need some help understanding their catalog order process.
Finally someone is making a nice model of a NC&StL locomotive: Atlas VO 1000. Their online catalog shows "June 2017 Announcement", but I can't seem to locate a dealer offering a pre-order. Am I missing something, or has the Atlas VO 1000 been pushed back?

PUBLIC DELIVERY TRACK has them listed for preorder.
What did other dealers tell you?
Good luck

It seems it may have been pushed back. I talked to my dealer and he hasn't received an order announcement for it in June.

I was hoping to use one of the supporting vendors to pre-order. I know Mr Muffins is one who does Atlas pre-orders and I have been checking his Atlas Pre-Order section waiting to show the VO 1000. And when July's Pre-Order didn't include the VO 1000, I began wondering what I had missed.
I appreciate the link to Public Delivery Truck, which I will use if I can't find a supporting vendor who will allow my pre-order. I have not talked with any dealers as yet. This thread just seemed convenient at this time to get some info.
Until Atlas actually posts the reservation announcement with pricing Dealers and people who order directly from Atlas can not do anything, typically this is a 30 day window to gauge reservations if sufficient then the model is put on the production schedule. In the motive power dept production this is really no longer a guarantee that the model will be made in the foreseeable future if at all. JMO

Don't think "the government" has claimed that, depending on what "to speak of" is. Inflation over the past decade has been about 18%. China's inflation over that period has been about 32%. The Chinese rate of inflation has varied greatly from year to year over that period, however. So if one combined the two inflation rates, the "cost" of an O gauge car would have increased significantly as a result of inflation.
Of course, the true cost may have gone up very little, given that with inflation today's currency is worth less than it was 10 years ago. Incidently, inflation is not an enemy. Economists will tell you that some inflation is a good thing, and too little inflation is a bad thing. It's complicated stuff.

Planning ahead. In some cases, way ahead.
I hope Atlas stays in O gauge and gets their production process ducks lined up. Their stuff is usually beautifully made, though sometimes a bit delicate.

Well, in more ways than one.

Actually, when I talked with Atlas about the schedule for ordering the formerly Weaver diesels in the January-June catalog I was told they were making some changes to them and wanted to re-announce them when they were ready. I do not know the nature of the changes.....
Since I have been selling Atlas, every run of freight cars has been sold out before they shipped. Pre-ordering the pieces you like to have is the way to go.
Steve....

So Atlas is built to order. Sound familiar???!
Atlas has been BTO for a long time now, Public Delivery is taking "Pre-Pre orders" based on the Jan-June catalog they actually have no pricing or est delivery info. Just saying!
The sky is falling.
Speaking of waiting for delivery... Did Atlas-O ever deliver this caboose?
IIRC, Atlas-O was taking orders for these (from Gold Spike Club members) about this time last year with a published ETA of 4Q2016. However, they also announced a bunch of "general-run" Extended Vision cabooses with an announced ETA of 1Q2017, but now the shipping schedule shows a new ETA of 3Q2017 for them. I'm just assuming all of these cabooses are being produced in the same production run. So am I correct in thinking that Atlas-O still hasn't shipped the Golden Spike Club TTX 100 caboose yet either?

David, that caboose would look great behind a set of Dash 8-40C's
If I remeber correctly, the Atlas January-June Catalogue came out only a few months ago. I can remember the day that it went active online and no one on the OGR forum was talking about it which surprised me.
That being said, I wouldn't expect the July-December catalogue to be out till August at the earliest. Just my thoughts.
Are you saying Atlas will be late with something? That never happens, just ask David.
They always wait for a Railroad Show to give out the printed copies.
Andrew
I still will buy reefers, but do these have to be pre-ordered? I only buy those from a couple of geographic regions so do not think l have missed any but may have.

I'd preorder them if you can. Some of those billboard reefers are a one time Chance based on how they sell. Plus there's no guarantee you may find the reefers you're looking for on the aftermarket.
