Hi,

as I am new in this Forum I would like to introduce myself first. My Name is Hans and I am from Bavaria (Germany).
I have started with Gauge G from LGB long time ago. I had a huge indoor construction equaly to the model of the Colorado & Southern.

Unfortunately I had to sell it, because the owner of the rented space wanted to use the room by himself. Therefore I had searched an alternative as I still wanted to use large Gauges.

8 Years ago I had visited a good old friend of mine - there I saw for the very first time the Standard Gauge. The MTH Repros / Digital Version.

I was immediately fascinated by it and started with help from my friend to build up a Standard Gauge Layout. As my daughter is already grown up I was able to use her old Room for this. After many teething troubles (like short circuits due to a lack of quality of the MTH Tracks, faulty locomotives and problems with the wheels of the wagons) finally the construction is running smooth and relieable.

Without the help of my friend I would have given up, cause it was/is impossible to get any spare parts in Germany and we had to solve all the problems by ourselves. A reshipment to MTH would have been too expensive.

But now all is running very well and I am still stoked of the Standard Gauge Tinplate!

Please ceep your answers short and simple. The whole text was written by my son and my own english has become very rusty over the years

Best Regards
Hans

Here a picture of my old LGB - layout

(thanks to Google Translate so I need not rely on my High School German!)

Many thanks for your welcome. The main reason for register at this forum is that i have a lot of questions about technique.

My first question is, doesn´t mth any longer produce "Proto Sound 2" parts? A friend of mine said, that he really needs a new board and the service member answered him there is no longer service for this parts. I mainly use PS2 equiped engines so it would be tragedy if this is fact. I often had problems with the "reader" and the wiring

Willkommen Hans!

Dave

Thank u again for your friendly welcome in this forum. I switched to Tinplate because its more nicer as the LGB . Standart gauge is the most beautiful thing that i ever knew Thank ya´ll for your support and help i really appreciate that.  and thanks NJCJOE for the information to PS 2 boards

I looked up again and almost all locomotives that I own, have a 9 V Board.
These boards are actually very reliable, but the Speed Control Reader, have often had to be changed
Do these parts then no longer?
The PS 3 Reader does not fit for PS. 2
I think PS3 is not better than PS2 and was only developed to fit better  in HO and S gauge locos
And because of DCC compatible
We have already lost a PS3 board, from a 381e. Bought 2014th
The wiring are very thin in PS3

regards
