I bought the Union Pacific "Challenger" seven car set.  The cars are like the fifty-five I purchased and detailed early in February through September of this year.  I have to return the "Challenger" Observation because of window damage: dislocated, marked and loose. The Dome roof was not properly seated on both dome cars.  I did snap the dome down into place on the add-on dome. The Baggage car rattles with a screw inside.  The add-on coach rear coupler will not stay closed.  The add-on dome car has a minor scratch in the dome windows.  The American Flyer Pullman has seven wall edges showing in the windows on one side and five wall edges on the other side.  I will have to see if I can shift the floor interior to reduce the number of wall edges that are in the middle of windows.  (I moved floors in my four 4-12 Broadway Limited cars earlier this year. when I built seats in the upper level.)

No new problems with these cars, just the same old issues.  I called my hobby shop and they suggested I stop buying these trains.  It is probably the best advice … I will not follow.  I have been warned.

I am still waiting for parts from Lionel for my cars I bought earlier this year.  Nicholas Smith Trains has also been unable to get me parts,  The z-plate that holds the coupler is broken on a car and two couplers keep opening, like the coupler on the Challenger add-on coach.

Lionel needs an "Emotional Support Hotline" to help buyers cope with all the issues that come with buying Lionel Trains, but they probably would not answer that either.

I am still waiting to hear from Lionel about the broken replacement engine they sent me for my Vision Line GG1 that they could not fix on three attempts. The C&O 2-6-6-2 arrived broken and with white paint on the left running board.

Sincerely, John Rowlen

Wow all those QC issues are unfortunate. I have the BR&P mallet and it’s just fine. Also just got the vision baggage & 2 car add on. No issues, just wish the doors opened! I’m considering the hummingbird but I definitely don’t want all those issues. Thanks for sharing
