I wonder if anyone has experienced issues with the new lionel coal dump or lumber cars. They are the coil type/die cast.

Both cars worked for about 2 weeks. I checked the cars connecting both slider shoes to a appropriate power source directly. Dead as a door nail. The cars were not left on a operating track activated. So, I assume it is not a coil issue. (No, burn smell). I was going to remove the heat shrink on the connecting wires to see if a pico type fuse was used for protection. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm about to send them back to Lionel. But, Maybe, one of you can save me the trouble.

It's funny you should say that the wires broke. I has some time to look at these tonight. I know the cars are basic. The slider shoes and the coil. But, you know how the safety stuff is these days.

I found both cars had wires that were off. Although the ire insulator was holding them

in place. Really, The wire should be changed on a production basis. It is sort of stiff and the conductor (strands and gauge) could use a boost. I thought it was bell wire at first..
