I recently re lettered and weathered my Wabash 0-8-0. If you have ever had the need to take the boiler of either the TMCC or true Legacy version. There isn't much room and you really have to be careful not to pitch any wires on assembly. The new version although not a great runner. Has ample room. I needed to remove the front coupler to change over to a Kadee. Very easily done. The pic below shows the new board and how much room is there. Very user friendly. To bad it. Didn't run better.

It's too bad Lionel didn't offer the Weyerhaeuser version of the Mogul with TMCC, I would have bought one, two if they had offered multiple road#'s. I would have to go back and look,  but I don't think that Weyerhaeuser was included in the Legacy version   Oh well, it is easier on the budget, if they don't make anything I want.

A couple of TMCC/Legacy 0-6-0T Docksiders in Weyerhaeuser, if they put electro-couplers on both ends, would be on my buy list as well.

I hope the Mogul doesn't come with the BEMF like the 0-8-0. I'm hoping the delay is Lionel fixing that problem. I Have a Legacy 0-8-0 and it is one of the best running models Lionel has ever made. The BEMF electronics in the new version aren't even close. I still don't understand that decision. I really hope the Mogul is a good slow speed runner.

Did not, one or two Lionel spokesmen state that there would be no more O gauge Legacy locomotives released after the 0-8-0 fiasco with the BEMC electronics? Hello LIONEL, please confirm!

Yes, they said more than once on these forums that the Mogul would not have the BEMC.  And if a locomotive was going to have the BEMC that they would state as such in the catalog.  So the only 3 Legacy locomotives with BEMC are the LioneMaster Class-A, the 2nd run of 0-8-0, and the Heisler.

Assuming the new legacy moguls do not have engine/region specific crew talk.

If I do a shell swap with a TMCC mogul (6-38088, railsounds)

Is there a way to keep the engine specific crew talk?  Are crew talk and engine sounds tied together, same chip?

why would want to do that?  Sounds are all on one chip/railsounds board.  Crew talk is a joke anyway. Real steam engines didn't have radios and I don't use the feature anyway.   I'm more into is the whistle correct for road and engine.

That won't work for a variety of reasons.  First off, yes, they're the same chip.  Second, the TMCC board will not work with a Legacy locomotive anyway.  Oh, the sound board is in the tender.
