Just received my New York Central Alco PA A-A set. First time I pre-ordered direct from Lionel. It seems I may have received mine before the dealers!

Good looking loco, thanks for posting.
Any more thoughts, or even a little review, would be appreciated.
I am interested to see the Santa Fe version, and how the plating turns out.
Nice!
I have the Union Pacific's on the way. I hope the super Bass B unit is more in tune with the A units horn.
I wish they would have made the A units have more of a fixed pilot
Stunning! Any difference between these and the ones released a couple years ago? We 2-railed a pair, and fixing the pilot was trivial.
Photos of the new Santa Fe Alco PAs were posted 6/6 on the "Alco-PAs Gleaming in the Morning Sun" thread. Photos of 2010 version for comparison.
Thanks for sharing the video of the NYC one. Here is a horn comparison of the black bonnet 2019 custom run from pats trains vs older legacy one in silver
Anybody get the Rio grande aspen? If so please show us photos/ videos.
Just opened my PRR "Tuscan" ABA version. It's orange. At $1300, it's going back to the dealer

Pics!?
Surefire,
I opened the box, took one look, and put them right back in the box. I know for sure there will be lots of posts on here to the effect that they're not that bad or the color is right. It isn't. I reluctantly kept my PRR Consolidation with the orange tender deck and the silver smokebox, but for $1300, this baby oughta be spot on.
PS Before I get clobbered on here, no, they are not bright orange like say the second run of the PRR X-31 boxcars, but they have a strong orange hue to them and they sure aren't tuscan as used on prototype PRR diesels and GG-1's. BTW, looks like the same wrong color they used on the JLC Tuscan GG-1's a few years ago.
Craig...you asked for a review, so here it is. Please take note that I have never done one of these and so it's not going to be very professional! Also I messed up right away by calling them a FAs instead of PAs! Hope you like it anyway.
Ok so I just realized the file is too big to post here. I put it on my YouTube channel instead. Here's the link:
I wonder why the pilot is actually underneath the nose? It should be sticking out a bit further.
@JamesRx thanks for the video and quick review. I will have my Union Pacific ABA tomorrow, and I will post some pics and a video. I was supposed to get them this morning, but ended up missing the FedEx guy by like 5 minutes. Tomorrow I'm waiting outside in a chair until I get my hands on them
Thanks Matt. I know the feeling. I once chased down a FedEx truck looking for the E8 I just missed....but I got the wrong truck! Had to wait another day. Good luck with the Alcos...they are really beautiful!

I certainly don't fault you. These wrong colors drive me nuts, and I wouldn't accept it either. I don't know who's minding the color monitoring store for Lionel in China, but it seems someone's often been asleep at the wheel in that department. They've had a terrible time for a long time doing correct Rio Grande orange and Great Northern orange, for example. I've sent back a number of these engines. There have been plenty of other examples as well.

Ditto !
The good news is the UP versions are not LEMON YELLOW like the previous released E6's... I had to off those quick like.
Quick video of the UP Alco PA ABA. Looks and sounds really nice. The Superbass B is an awesome add-on. This thing is loud, like wake up my neighbors loud and I love it.
I had one issue with the Front Powered A, whenever it would cross a switch it would trip the breaker on the layout, and it looks like the front left truck was not screwed in all the way so it was hanging down and when you crossed both middle rails of the switch it caused the issue. Unscrewed the truck, set it correctly, and the issue was resolved. I checked the trucks on all the other units to be sure.

Beautiful set Matt. Enjoy!

They look and sound nice.
1955+ silver trucks, 1959+ "Union Pacific Railroad" nose herald and 1959+ "UNION PACIFIC" above the number boards representative of the UP's Alcos as operated in the early to mid 1960s.
The PAs are beautiful diesels. Enjoy!
The Gleaming topic talks about losing IDs when using the set. Same thing here. This will occur with others, since Matt and 1 other user has mentioned the problem. Don't park and turn your engines off on the back of your layout. If it loses ID, you are in for a fun crawl.
