Looked it over.... looks confusing, but I guess I will get used to it. Not going to be easy if you don't know the stock number of the item.
My parts purchase history is gone.
Also, and while I'm not positive, I think my password wasn't recognized so I went through the 'forgot my password' protocol.
And it appears that N. Lima Trainworks is no longer referenced on the website, at least with respect to a couple of parts categories I checked.
The new site is full of white space. Apparently it has been optimized for mobile devices. It is very difficult to navigate or to drill down to the correct information and parts. The number of search results per page is limited. But it doesn't matter as only about 10 items will appear at a time on a 27-inch monitor. I wish they had left it well enough alone.
How does one access the locomotive parts breakdown via the model number?
It looks like you can only find parts by searching for them specifically. I hope I'm wrong.
The whole point of the breakdown is to give you the part numbers.
I did a 765 search and found the break out of those parts. My complaint so far is I put in a specific item number, 6-11454, and got a lot of unrelated items. Not sure why that is. But I did find these useful and new. Maybe I missed them before. Lots of identifying connector info.
On another note...
I had a separate login for the Lionel Store vs Lionel Customer Service. The Lionel Store login works for the new site but not my old Customer Service login.
Yes just like MARTY using SKU and the engine that I am looking for does NOT come up. When before the lockout I’d put the item, in this case S1 and all engines came up both legacy and TMCC.

I'm hoping they can refine that. Seems if I put in a 6-XXXX I should get that exact item and maybe a few related products. BTW I did get the 765 using the SKU but also a lot of other, not even close, related stuff.
Since it just came back I won't get too excited about not finding stuff. I imagine they'll be tweaking it so I'll give it some time until the dust settles.
I agree it will take some getting used to, but I found some trim parts that were not on the previous site or at least I could not find them despite an extensive search. I placed my order and received an email about a minute later.
I think the site still needs some LOVE. I searched for 1931470 and received the same info as I did with the old site. Meaning little to no data. I am guessing the focus was on a new site and app, but the data is lacking as before.
but it’s a start, now bring it home!!!!!
What's strange is that when I looked up some older locomotives, parts that have not been available for years or only through North Lima, are somehow now all available.
Makes me question if they really are, or somehow everything got marked as available accidently.
I guess I can place an order and find out!

Maybe like the MTH site, they found some boxes no one knew about.

So is mine including the outstanding one not yet delivered.
Maybe they have continued the practice of hiding it elsewhere like when you had to go to My Lionel to find a parts order and couldn't find it on the main order site. Hopefully not.

a search of the J3a NYC Hudson still only shows the RCMC and bluetooth boards. No complete breakdown of the engine. So for me it's useless until they start uploading the engines from the last few years. Haven't check for my account yet.
Doing a search for a engine that I know had a parts list gives me suggestions that have nothing to do with the engine I'm searching for. This is not ready for primetime in the least.
I think we should just give it a little time. Everyone complained when it went down. Maybe they pushed it out to get some parts back into the hand of folks that need them. I'm just guessing here. If after a week or so nothing improves I'll go to the hardware store and buy everyone some pitch forks and boiling oil.
WOW, talk about the fast method of screwing up a good thing! The new site is much harder to find parts!
I think the site isn't ready for prime time! I keep getting dropped into a hole with a spinning logo and this page:
On that page, there is a login, I guess they figure we'll login and fix the broken site?
So far I'm less than impressed! This seems clearly not ready for prime time!

Just placed an order. I wasn't a callus critic of the old website, but it did have its issues. I was able to find all the items I needed. FWIW, I didn't place a full blown order but some things I've been wanting for a while. What surprised me is that two of the items that were listed unavailable, on the old website, appear on the new website. Maybe Lionel also did an inventory as part of the new roll out. I proceeded through the check out process with no issues. On the old website, I'd get to the point to enter payment info and would be taken back to searching for parts webpage. The new layout is different, therefore things have changed. You have to get used to it.
Someone, in a previous post, made the comment about NLTW not being shown on the new webpages. I didn't encounter that, but, frankly, if people were having issues with NLTW as much as indicated in the OGR forum, frankly, I'm glad Lionel is distancing themselves from NLTW. If I saw NLTW as a source for parts, I'd do without.
I'm cautiously optimistic regarding the new website. It worked for me the first time through. The order was accepted. Usually it takes about 10 business days for ordered items to get to my house.

An update: after reading a couple of previous posts about not finding what they wanted. I ordered three items and knew the number of the locomotive/rolling stock/caboose for the parts I wanted. In all cases, the website found the item, had an exploded parts picture. From that I was able to order my parts. Further in one case, in the search arguments, I placed a more generic search parameter, for example, "4-4-2", and got overwhelmed with the returned info. So, I re-entered my search parameters to narrow down what was returned. Part of it is just learning how the new website works.

I’ve been in touch with them as I need a new toolbox cover for the PT tender on my Hudson. They’ve been telling me that they were waiting for the new site to be online before they started uploading more recent diagrams/parts. They said “within the next few months”.
Intial reaction right out out of the gate! Go back to the old parts site.

Nope, disagree. The old website did not work for me. I almost always ended up calling Lionel parts and placing the order over the phone.

in this case - I agree

Hey, At least they wrote a "NOVEL" about the different warranty policies. Plus, I'm searching for parts and need a video lesson on peel and stick lights?

Ride the rail - My experience different unfortantely.

All this could have been in one post. I get it's not working right off the bat but if I recall the new MTH parts site had it's share of issues too. My offer still stands on the pitch forks and boiling oil.

Same type of responses, myself included, when, a few months ago, eBay changed how searches were done and how some items were reclassified.
Steve
Its different. Took a few minutes to figure it out but was able to place an order. Also seeing parts that used to be listed as NLA. Would prefer if you type in a SKU that you would just get that item as before.

What happened to the owner's manuals pdfs on the Lionel website. From the main website and when I select support I am sent to the site to buy parts. Is Lionel going to start Charging for pdfs of the owner's manuals?

When I looked up a few things after the parts listing is a "Documents" section and the manual and some other documentation was there. Free of charge for downloading.
ACCORDING TO THE SITE, THEY HAVE THE ACELA NON- POWERED TRUCKS AND YOU CAN PUT THEM IN YOUR CART, BUT WHEN I CALLED TO FIND OUT HOW MANY THEY HAD AVAILABLE, , THE WOMAN TOLD ME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THEM. "THERE ARE LOTS OF BUGS IN THE SYSTEM". SO, DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH.
This so-called "upgrading" of a website is what the people who work in I.T. refer to as job security.
This new site isn't accurate. I just looked up 4 different parts, all of which were showing "add to cart" on the website, which led me to believe the parts are available. I just spoke with Lisa in the Lionel parts department, and she told me none of the parts I was looking for are available.

Yeah. looks like everything is marked as available, Haha.
I just placed an order for some parts which have always been unavailable, so I am expecting to get a notice all are out of stock. Either that or Lionel has been holding out on us, lol. If they actually have them, I will be super surprised.
Big oops on that one.
I just did the same thing; I figured the worst that will happen is they will tell me the parts are unavailable and they will have to reverse the charges on my card.
@BlueComet400 posted:I just did the same thing; I figured the worst that will happen is they will tell me the parts are unavailable and they will have to reverse the charges on my card.
I also ordered a few parts previously marked NLA. Worst thing is they indeed are NLA and I have paid full shipping for a ten dollar order. I wouldn't have placed an order for a few bucks otherwise.
Pete
I'm curious about my order too as I ordered some parts that were previously shown as not available on the old site. I also found a couple trim parts that I could never locate on the old site, and I had done exhaustive searches. So if I get them I'll be very happy and if not I'm no worse than I was before.
I think the new site is an improvement, but that's mainly because it gave me more choices from the key words I searched on so I found some parts I needed. There are some things I liked about their old site, but it is gone so I'll learn to work with the idiosyncrasies of this one.

Why a company would roll-out a website with this many flaws is hard to understand. Think of the labor hours involved in processing refunds and notifying customers re: orders they cannot fill.
Pete, I saw in an earlier post from you that North Lima has parts in stock. I have tried to contact them, but they are unresponsive. Do you know whether or not they are open?
Thanks,
John
John, I haven’t ordered anything from them in a few years. I understand they are still selling parts but the owner(s) are busy doing other things and rarely respond. If you have a part number and enter it in their search window and it shows in stock and you place an order it should get fulfilled, At least thats how it worked in the past. Any problems though and I think you are out of luck.
