Hello, I just wanted to send a note out to let all of the forum members know that I have a new web site.  www.mercerjunction.com  The new site is much faster than the old site and has features like real time inventory, shipping calculator and pre-order availability.  It is mobile friendly and much more secure for on-line purchases.

There are many items such as scenery, track and paint that are not listed on the site that we also sell, so please feel free to give me a call if you are looking for something.

There are some great shops out there and I would invite you to consider us as one of your regular shopping spots both online and in person.  I would also urge Facebook users to like us on Facebook.  There are many projects that I post there that I do not share here.

All feedback, both positive and negative, is welcome.

Thank you!

Dave

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw the title of the thread!!!    It's a shame Lionel's new website has become a reference standard for what sites should NOT be.

Seriously, Dave... Your new site is very nice site and well-organized.  Plus I love the fact that you always have the header and footer displayed that shows simple info like your phone number, email, USPS address, and store hours.  Most sites hide that stuff nowadays.  And forget about phone numbers -- most sites have them nowhere to be found.

I did notice an oddity though that I just stumbled over while browsing in the Atlas-O section.  The coil cars have the regular price listed as $72.95 crossed out and on sale for $79.95.  Perhaps it should be the other way arround?    But the ones I clicked on were "out of stock" anyway.  In fact, all the coil cars I clicked on were out of stock... So I'd suggest not displaying items that are out of stock in the first place, if that's something you can configure with the website software.  Just a thought.

Anyway, great looking site, and functionality and performance were very solid when I gave it a quick walk-through.

I just took a look around and it all looks really good to me, nice job.

Just a couple of suggestions here, FWIW,

Something I might like to see if possible is more items per page or the ability to choose items displayed per page. Some sites have a selection where you can display like 25, 50, 100 etc. Personally, I prefer more items on one page as opposed to scrolling from page to page. I think it makes for easier browsing.

Per David's suggestion above about out of stock items, I think it would be good to still show them if they can be re-ordered. Like available for order or something? Seems like that would let folks know you carried something, but had just temporarily run out and could get more in the future.

I especially like the quantity in stock detail, I think that is really good information to have for someone looking to purchase something.

Good luck, I hope the new site works out well for you. Wish I was closer, I would certainly be visiting your store in person. If I am ever up that way I will surely be stopping in.
