This catalog for me was ho hum, probably one of the CSX ES44ACs and the NYC 4-4-0 ESE for me.

I'm good. Nothing jumps out and says I have to have it. It's a good catalog though. Not any new tooling I see but I think it will do well. If anything I'll be in for some rolling stock but no engines.
Maybe the CSX Spirit of Law Enforcement and some of the military flats. Thats it though.
I might order a Railking scale Santa Fe H-10-44. It has zebra stripes so that calls out to me. Plus the price is right. It's cheaper than I could pick up an old Premier version of the same locomotive from the 90's and add TMCC or PS3 to, straight from the factory. I've been looking for a small diesel switcher to shuttle freight and passenger cars into and out of the yard on my layout, and this would fit nicely on one of the short tracks off the turntable.
DL109 in Santa Fe with the plated finish looks nice as well. I'll probably skip that one though. I've got 3 sets of warbonnet passenger units (2 ABBA F3s and an ABA set of PAs) so I don't really need more.
I may order the Illinois Terminal SD70ACe, the CNJ SD70ACe ( to add to my NS heritage locomotive collection) and TTX husky stack cars.

Same stuff, different day, just different paint schemes! It's a no from me for this catalog........
SD70M's (first time in proto 3).
Narrow nose Dash-8's.
Santa Fe DL-109/110.
GP38-2's. But which? All?
CSX ES44's.
50' High Cubes.
Various Hoppers.
Flat Cars w/Bradley Fighting Vehicles.
Maybe the military flats with the jeeps. Otherwise it's same old, same old with different paint.
- UP Big Boy 4014 Restoration
- CPRR Jupiter & UPRR 119
- UP SD70Ms
- WMSR & RBMN GP30s
- ATSF Warbonnet SD40-2
- Monongahela and/or B&M GP38-2
- CNW SD24
- CSX & BNSF ES44ACs
- NS & TTX High Cube Boxcars
- Timken Roller Freight AAR Boxcar
- Illinois Terminal 34' Composite Hopper
- Canadian Wheat 100 Ton Hoppers
- CSX & TTX Husky Stack Cars
- UP & NS 2-Bay Centerflow Hoppers
- NS Full Dome Car
- B&M Full Dome Car
I missed the SD70ace heritage units on the last run of them. I definitely want the NS Jersey Central unit.
Nothing falls in the must have bucket. My CC gets a breather till next year.
I guess now would be a good time to upgrade some of my ancient PS-1 & PS-2 locos to PS-3.
The Bradley units on flats is a must have!!!
I'm disappointed in the catalog offerings. Nothing that I plan to buy. Was hoping for a Premier USRA 0-8-0 switcher in New Haven, Boston & Maine or Boston & Albany livery.

Thankfully nothing since I have a rather large pre-order for Lionel that will be coming soon in the next few months. Otherwise this catalog has the same old ES44s and SD70ACe's. Hope to see some ET44s soon and still waiting for the solid rocket booster set!
While there is no new tooling, I thought it was a nice looking catalog. Some nice product for those that purchase MTH. Honestly I was surprised at the amount of product and the number of paint schemes. Also of note was that the handheld is still in the catalog. I thought that was discontinued?
However, I've gotten quite spoiled in the locomotive and passenger car department. If it's not a Sunset / 3rd Rail / GGD product or higher end I won't be ordering it unless MTH reissues the 3/2 CNJ Trainmaster at some time in the future that got cancelled last time I pre-ordered it. I might consider CNJ P47 Pacific 835 in black with Miss Liberty on the tender should that ever get reissued in 3/2 also. First world problems honestly.
However, the oxide brown ATSF caboose is one I'll probably pick up. I've been looking for something reasonable to put behind my 3rd Rail A-B-B-A set of FTs for some time. It would look good with a Kadee coupler on the back side.
As a B&M/MEC fan, I was interested in a number of items. HOWEVER, most are reruns of items I already have. I would be interested in some of the B&M streamlined passenger cars, but are they going to be made with red stripes vice the correct B&M maroon? I would also be interested in the MEC F3s, even though they are Railking (I prefer them in Premier). However, from what I can see, the colors are incorrect. I am hesitant to preorder these items because I concerned that the colors will be incorrect and I would be very disappointed. Please get these right, MTH.
I do like the Bradley Fighting Vehicles on flatcar however my military train is a WWII era train so no go for me.
Two things that I noticed that I thought were odd:
They call the Jeeps “Personnel Vehicles” not Jeeps. Why? I am sure they know they are Jeeps.
The Veterans Engine in Railking is a Dash 8. I know the rules for Railking are more open than for the Premier Line but a EMD engine would be a little more realistic. Even if the Railking line does not have a mold for a SD60E a SD60 or even a SD70Ace would have been a better choice. Then again I do not buy Railking engines (or even MTH engines) so it is not a issue to me.

They finally have the Grand Trunk Western 1776 GP38-2 diesel loco in the catalog. I have to order that.
There are DT&I GP38-2 diesels in the GTW blue, red, & white scheme. I will order both eventually.
There are finally PILLSBURY cylindrical 100-ton covered hoppers, so I need both road numbers.
The PREMIER line ROCK trailers on TRAILER TRAIN flat cars are what I have been waiting to get for my THE ROCK era train.
The Palouse River or GRAIN TRAIN ACF Centerflow 3-bay covered hoppers will extend my Washington State grain train.
I will order the Grand Trunk Western ex-DWP 1976 steel caboose.
I ordered the MONON auto carrier for the 1960's and 1970's era GTW freight trains.
Andrew
The Strasburg Passenger Car sets if i can’t find any at York.
Can't believe MTH (or Lionel for that matter) doesn't seem to want to come out with Southern Railway green F units! They make plenty of Southern and NS black F units, but not the 50s era models.
For me, I just see 3-4 40' and 50' boxcars that I may order, nothing else. Like the Seaboard passenger cars, but will have to see how close they are to what was used on the Meteor or Star.
There is a Chesapeake & Ohio GP30 that i would like to order.
I am considering the SOO LINE 50' double-door box car.
The BOSTON & MAINE PS-1 50' box car in the 1776 would be great for a Bicentennial freight train.
The Railking MONON 4-bay offset side hopper is one I will order for use in GTW and SOO LINE trains.
The Railking SOO LINE FM H10-44 is one I am considering.
If it were not for the all of the Bicentennial locos and cars, I might have pre-ordered the CN C40-8 loco or the red SOO SD40-2.
Andrew
Maybe NS Heritage units (with scale wheels): NKP, PRR, NYC the possibilities for me.
David
The Premier GM&O Rebel Route boxcar is a possibility, if I remember to do it. Otherwise, nothing.
(I noticed that there is a Daylight-scheme RK SP cab-forward; now, who would do such a thing?)
Nothing.
Maybe the Maine Central Dash 8, Pan Am Railways Premier engine.
I always liked the 4-4-0 American sets but never got one. So maybe I'll look at the Empire State Express or Royal Blue.
Only interest for me is the "God Bless America" Caboose.
Mark
Not a bad catalog for MTH. The new stuff looked suspiciously like recent Lionel catalogs though....
I'll probably order a Canada 100 ton covered hopper (really wish they would rerun the Saskatchewan version). I'll also get a 50'high cube or two in TTX/ UP. Might try the wood side coaches.
Some cool stuff, but nothing for me....no tinplate.
Steve
Possible the ICG GP38
Nothing, almost the same as last years catalog.
I ordered UP 1111 last month (MTH Sneak Peek). I may step down from my position as the self-appointed Information Minister of the Isle of Denial and order a BNSF SD70ACe. Debating whether I want to get a CNW SD24 (they actually had SD18's so maybe I'll modify a pair of SD9's I have instead).
Nothing. No subways
God Bless America caboose only
What I noticed is I thought MTH was discontinuing the TIU remote? It's in the catalog. Did MTH hear our complaints about dropping the remote wasn't such a good idea?
They make "one more production run" is the story I'm hearing.
I am looking at the Premier Flat with the 3 jeeps as my military train is also WWII themed and the auto carrier with the 4 ‘57 Ford Rancheros only because I love the cars.
I would like to get a SOO LINE 50' double-door box car.
The Norfolk and Western trailer on TRAILER TRAIN flat car fits my time period.
The Railking St. Louis South Western COTTON BELT 40' box car is a car that used to be common at the Paper Mill in Vicksburg, MI, so I am considering that car.
Andrew
Nothing. I am not inspired.
Nothing !!
There's been nothing in the MTH catalog that I've wanted for the past 5 years. Same stuff different paint.
The Southern Pacific SD45 should be done in Premier, they have only done it in the "Daylight" scheme ~ It even has the Espee lighting package. What a Waste of that Tooling.
The Southern Pacific Railking version needs to be done in the Speedlettered Espee version 8600 class where they didn't have the Espee lighting package.
The Santa Fe SD45 needs to be done in their most long lived Numbers of the 5300 class.
That GP30 Conductor front side handrail needs to be corrected - Unacceptable for a Premier Model.
And a Santa Fe warbonnet SD40-2, sheesh...Why not do it in Black Widow Next
