New MTH 30-1844-1 looses control

The locomotive runs fine with the app until I put another locomotive on track then I loose control. When I take the other locomotive off track I loose control again. Did full reset as well still have problem

Seems like a loss of signal. I'd run some signal tests on it while it goes around the layout before you add the other locomotives. Anything 5 and below isn't good.
