WOW, the premier line E and F units have gone up around 25% this year, from a year ago for an ABA set.

From $799.00 to $1069.00, that is one heck of price increase! I guess three boxes rather than one really kicks up the cost.

What a shame, they are pricing even those of us with a strong desire and good income out of the picture. I can not imagine being my 8 year old and asking for a $2,000+ passenger train for Christmas, I know there is always Railking, but the new prices increases are shocking to me.

Very disappointing.

Ok, I looked, although there were a few things I would like to have, I think I can get away with just the Premier BNSF GP40. I'll try to remain strong, but my LHS has a Premier BNSF SD45 from a catalog or two ago that they have been tempting me with for the last few weeks. They placed it where I can't help but see it when I walk into the store...

Oh, almost forgot, then there is the wifi and the app, so I will probably now need to get a smart phone too...

And offered with scale wheels only;  this is quite surprising, considering the number of tinplate non-MTH British-prototype locomotives and operators out there.

It would be interesting to know the reasoning behind this.*

I'm excited the 2016 O gauge LCT club car is going to be a caboose!!! Great news considering the last two years the club cars have been a re-release.

No EJ&E but I guess that's good considering Lionel is putting out the SD38s.

I love the the railking line for buying my nephews Christmas presents.

The price increases most likely have a lot to do with demand. They're probably not making as many of each model as they did in the past and need to up the price to recover the cost and make a profit.

The tooling is probably paid for by now on many of these models, but the paint masks alone are 10s of thousands of dollars.

Smaller runs. Higher prices.

Pretty boring catalog.

There's a set of British passenger cars in the European section with new tooling.

A NYC express car I've never seen before.  Other than that I don't see new tooling from anyone these days.

If you are referring to the "R50B" express cars this is a Pennsy design and built car.  To the best of my recall only one or two got painted for another road which were use in through service between the PRR and other road.  So again to the best of my recall a NYC R50B is fantasy.

I noticed the scale wheels only thing too. I would be buying some of these if they were hi-rail.

I was a little excited at the cover, thinking they'd dig up a wide variety of tooling to offer a good selection of engines that were featured at the Spencer Streamliners event. However now that I see the catalog, they "fudged" a bunch of them. I would be interested in the Pan Am F-units, although the real ones are FP9's and the MTH one uses F7 tooling. But, the way they set it up, both of the prototypes are offered as powered units, while all the non-powered units use made up numbers. $900 for a pair of incorrect F units? No thanks

The SD60E is still tempting but so far computer generated catalog pictures aren't enough

Great catalog for me. There are 5 steam locomotives I want! No way I can afford them all. I sold my PS2 USRA Mikado ten months ago. I got the money in the bank to pay for a new one which will cover half of it. I may order a second locomotive. I would love to get the ESE Hudson or the PRR Atlantic. I swore I would never again buy a Pennsy engine but I just might go back on that promise.

Being a younger model railroader I missed out on several engines in the catalog when they first came out years ago and so far my list looks like this -

ABC Railway SW1500 (Always saw the real one in Kent, OH during my time at KSU)
NKP Gondola
DT&I 2-10-0
NKP 2-8-2
NYC Empire State Express 5429
All 8 NS/N&W Excursion Cars
NS GP40 Safety Train Set
NS SD40-2
2 NKP Double Door Boxcars
2 Ohio Central Coil Cars
NS Extended Vision Caboose (Lake Division)
NYC 5-Car Empire State Express Set

I think it's unsold stock.  They've appeared in previous catalogs.

The are definitely unsold stock. The British offerings were and are the least popular of the European line up. For example I got my Duchess of Atholl 4 years after it was first cataloged for half the original price along with the matching coaches.

Richard E.  As others own that Russian Decapod with the goofy tender, that

I thought about taking a hacksaw to, let us know what MTH says about getting parts?

Trying to get tenders for separate sale, like three different lengths of

Vanderbilts....coal for me and oil for whomever wants it...is like all the other

unfilled wishes above.    And as for the Russian one running at the Ill. Rwy.

Mus.?, how about the Baldwin one running at Strasburg, with a lot of riders, and millions of miles from MTH HQ and unknown to them(not).

I would agree with the idea of offering separate As and B's , particularly if one was interested in the passenger trains of the 1960s. Still some railroads had long trains with multiple units. Offering each unit individually does allow the modeler to choose what is appropriate for the train of interest . Now if they sold the cars that way instead of making you buy a dome in a set for railroads that did not have them.
