My problem started when my new MTH Imperial Diesel stopped at the same point, at speeds of 15 or lower as it passed over a switch. https://ogrforum.com/...3#149661645513130863
Well, I finally concluded I'll have to live with that issue, although I may try to do something to reduce the gap in the switch. However, I have a new problem. Not sure if I caused it, or, something failed in the engine. When I took the shell off, I saw two red male connectors, unconnected (picture below). I have no idea if that's normal or if something is wrong. I'm assuming it's normal because the engine ran fine with those unconnected connectors when it first arrived. However, now the engine's speed is uncontrollable. (video). The handheld reads 1mph. In searching this forum it appears to be an issue with the tach reader...spacing? or the tape? or the reader itself is kaput. The tape seems clean, unblemished. In searching the forum I really couldn't determine how to go about diagnosing what exactly is the problem, and whether it is something I should even try to fix or take it to my LHS. Need some expert advice, please. Thanks.
