Old news. I've heard that at least one will be in revenue service by Christmas. Amtrak is regularly running test trains with already delivered units on the NE Corridor. I've already seen one of them.
So what is happening to the tried and true AEM7's?

Some AEM7s have already been scrapped and at least one or two HHP8s are in the "dead line". No indications have been made to preserve either an AEM or an HHP. Amtrak is eager, so it seems, to get rid of the HHP8s. The new units have performed VERY well with impressive results in testing so far.
