I really like diecast, so that sounds like a real good deal to me! My layout is level and I don't run more than a dozen or so cars in a diecast consist. The weight puts some strain on the engine drivetrain during initial acceleration. Once the train gets moving they glide along real nice.

These look nice.
$30 bucks each for die cast. I'd call that a good deal!
I prefer plastic myself. That diecast stuff hurts when the little lady gets mad and chucks them at me.
What, me worry?

You bet. Otherwise you'll die when they're cast. That's why they call 'em die cast, I believe.

You hit the jackpot bigdogjeff1!!!!! Very good deal, especially if they are Premier, and a good deal if Railking too!
That's a good deal but it's more important that you are happy with your purchase. If you are happy with them that's all that counts. Also, one of our sponsors "Menards" has a few die-cast cars at very good prices. I suggest you check out their website.
I went back and got two more at that price.

I have 54 "grey box" MTH die cast cars...mostly box cars and reefers some tankers and a few gondolas.
I really like them !
Be careful with them in long trains after 7 or 8 cars you will be really tormenting the electronics with amps...I always use 4 motor units to pull long trains or 2 or 3 engines in a MTH lashup.
What dealer did you get yours from ? I find there getting harder to find.

Trains and things in nj but he has only 2 left both tank cars
Oh OK....I bought my first MTH die cast there about 15 years ago and my last one there a few months ago...I do not get down there as much as I used to but back in March I had to go to the NJDOT headquarters on Parkway ave for a training class and stopped in to see Tony on my lunch and picked up a Erie Lackawanna die cast reefer.
Most of my postwar collection came from him...I started buying trains from him when he worked out of his basement...that was 31 years ago !
