If your a child of the 50s the little GG1s seem right at home. My best runner was the K-line version. Scale is good to have for those that want them.
I recently picked up an RMT BANG at a local train show, and I think the click/clock noise you hear is coming from the speaker as a capacitor discharges. My BANG does the same thing, almost inaudibly.
I suppose you are right, and I expected it, frankly, because, who uses relays any more? Of course, it does not really matter where it comes from, it works! If I don't hear the noise, it did not cycle. And just to confirm, I saw no relays when it was apart, so . . .
Just to clarify, the noisy relays are on the old K-Line engine, which has no speaker, either. Sounds like the RMT engine is quite different under the hood.
